Speculation: Future Roster/Trade Discussion

  • If you are having issues logging in, we have found opening the log in page in a new tab/window rather than using the pop out should resolve these issues. We are working to get this resolved and thank you for patience.
  • Due to the increased volume of league transactions, the Trade Rumors and Free Agent Talk section is temporarily restricted to where threads may only be started by moderators and sponsors. We anticipate that this restriction will be lifted some time after the first round of the draft.
The worst contracts are giving long term 3-4 million deals for 4th liners or 5 million for a third liner playing with 50% goal share.
I'm happy that thus far Zito has been good with not giving guys these contracts and instead let them walk after A solid season with us. The reality is that due to limited ice time a 4th liner playing with 45-50 % goal share simply isn't worth more than ~1 mil.

Young teams with plenty of cap space often want to sign these reliable vets for short term 3mil contracts and it is a good deal for everybody.

Reliable vets get good income shepherding young players :)

Luosty would go in a Helle trade, plus ERod for salary. Not Lundell. But I still hope it doesn't happen.
At this point im fine with getting Binnington for hopefully less and rock him with Tarasov
Only reason why Binner didnt win gold is MacK going full samoskevich, he played really well there too
Plus his playoffs are a bit better overall, and he seems like the perfect panther lmao

It's June 25th and I still can't figure out how to spell Hellebuyck.

Also, an Andreas Lilja sighting in the likes for all you Cars lifers out there.

Tweet doesn't make a lot of sense to me. Like I said before Chevy has been there too long but he's a middle of the road GM (not Bowman or Davidson you're dealing with) if Florida doesn't offer Lundell they have nothing worth trading for and he has 5 years left, he can tell Helle to expand his list or report in September.

i mean did we squeeze them?
Feels like a fair trade for both sides tbh, we paid a hefty price for a great top 6 player
I agree, I thought Staios did very well, liked them flipping the pick for Eklund too. I thought it was a lot considering he'd be a Panther in 2 years but windows are small.

yeah its why im not really crazy on it
Obv Zito isnt gonna make some god tier deal every time but i feel like we couldve gotten a good goalie and kept our 9th overall to add some young talent
Team was already good enough to win b2b cups, focus on weak areas first tbh

Once we figure out goalie ill feel better but rn we got no goalies and no way to add low cost talent till 2030
