Also, I think he values puck retrieval and entry denial more than 'main stat numbers'. The defensive meta that cut the most goal is puck retrieving hound that can get the puck out in two touches. It's not for no reason that Ekblad started his annoying little flip to center ice. So on D, Zito might 'value a market inefficiency'. Maybe that why it seems like D is more of a patchwork, while it's a great unit much better than the sum of all its part.
