What about Cole Reschny? Centre , Victoria WHL, going to UND this fall.
92 points in 62 games. 25 points in 11 playoff games. 5'11 183 lbs. Born in April. From Saskatchewan.
Other players I like... Kindel, Fiddler.
Why? You don't like him?
Some interesting measurements:
- Carter Amico is a specimen at 6'5.5 and 232lbs
Blake Fiddler RD is ranked higher & may be the better prospect & might even be able to move back to get him should they want a RD & another pick. I think they either trade the pick 21st OA or they make a pick & take a forward. We found our guy at 21 @aragorn
Horcoff set the record for horizontal jumps at the combine.- Will Horcoff has grown to 6'4.75 and also put on 20lbs of weight, was listed at 181lbs and is now 203lbs
Maybe I missed something but has it been determined yet that we're keeping our pick?
Kindel grew up a “die hard Habs fan”

What happened to taking the BPA?I’m very curious as to the direction they go.
This is the first year they have with the current GM and directive in place, there is no chance they changed their checklist or directives last year in January after Staios got acclimatized.
I’m expecting a different draft compared to the past 4 years, I think we will still see the tools and size aspect in most picks, but think we may see a pick or two that doesn’t fit with the last 4 years of the teams picks.
I won’t care too much if they have the exact same game plan from rounds 4-7, but I am praying they alter their plan with rounds 2-3. They can’t keep taking size and truculence, they need to start taking speed and skill.
I have no clue, we haven’t gone by a BPA approach in ages, or if we have it’s been nothing but misses since 2020.What happened to taking the BPA?
It also has to be said that this draft past the top 10 is going to be subjective as a lot of drafts are & there are several players that could make sense at 21 OA. I think if they take Kindel RW as an example half the board will be happy half will be pissed, if they take Fiddler RD which would fit a need & leave Kindel on the board, half will be pissed & half will be happy. Given where the team is at, I suspect it's more likely they will trade for skill rather than be in a position to draft it for the next few yrs. when they are building to contend now.I have no clue, we haven’t gone by a BPA approach in ages, or if we have it’s been nothing but misses since 2020.
If they are going by their listed BPA, we have some whole other issues.
BPA, especially past the first 3 rounds, is too subjective to even look into.
One thing is for certain, they have drafted almost no skill since 2021. Have gone with size, tools and physical play from all aside from 3/4 of their 30 picks.
lol there were other players that were “obvious to most” that are now complete and utter dog shit. Happens every yearHe was a bad pick because there was a clear pre draft better player in Peterka. It was so obvious to most . Plus on top he has the connection to Timmy. It was so odd we passed on him twice
Now could have Jarventie developed and been a better player without the injuries? Guess we will never know
Wheeler’s latest mock has us taking Spence
Lakovic is the Sens' type, but he'll be long gone before they're up. I could see them liking Simon Wang as well, but this is a little too early (if they were to move back, and I think they're open to it, I could see him being a target in a trade-down). If they stand pat, two players in this range that make sense are Spence and Nesbitt. Both have the competitive spirit and athletic builds they've prioritized in the past, but Spence has more pace and has done it with more consistency and in straight lines. He could be an up-and-down-the-lineup winger for them who really fits their culture.

2025 NHL Mock Draft 2.0: Scott Wheeler predicts the first 32 picks
After the NHL Scouting Combine, here's Scott Wheeler's second version of a first-round mock for the 2025 NHL Draft.www.nytimes.com
We're going to see Spence mocked to the Sens a lot in the next few weeks because he's big (sort of) and competitive, but I'm not sure if he exactly fits the Sens' type. For me, the concern with Spence is whether he's an early-to-develop prospect who's started to plateau in his development. Combine that concern with a relatively low ceiling and I actually think the risk-reward on this player doesn't make a ton of sense - at least at 21.
The Sens have typically gone for prospects who are trending up in their draft seasons and/or are more projection rather than what-you-see-is-what-you're-going-to-get.
"One of the most interesting things to come out of the combine was the height measurement of Spence, who has historically been listed at 6'2...but measured 6'0 (and three quarters) at the combine. I think that this is going to be a big talking point for some NHL scouting staffs. I know it sounds crazy, but Spence's projection was already, best case scenario, a solid middle six, defensive type. Will NHL scouting staffs be as enamored with him in that role now that he's not 6'2? He's a late born 2006 too, so there isn't going to be as much room for future growth"

I disagree with the opinion they always go with size, I think they take the guy they have on their list who is still available when they select & I think a lot of things go into that such as maybe they need that kind of player in their system. It would also make sense to go for bigger guys in the later rds who most likely are going to be bottom six players anyway, if they even make it, who help them fill roles. The skill most people want are mostly in the first rds & usually early, once you get into the twenties it becomes a bit of a crap shoot anyway.
Stone? They picked him for his size. LolThere is plenty of skill in rounds 2 and beyond but you have to look for it and not just blindly favour size and physical play.
Skilled guys available in later rounds of the draft who have had significant impacts in the regular season but mostly in the playoffs in the last 10 years:
Point
Palat
Aho
Verhaeghe
Marchessault
Kucherov
Stone
Johnson
I'm missing loads but we aren't getting those kinds of players by picking Eliasson, Roger, Ellinas, Andonovski, Wallenius, Romeo, etc.. It's not that all those players are bad but you aren't getting any skill out of them, something we sorely lack in the organization, from top to bottom.
Most of those players are longshots to make the NHL; why not make the long shot a player with star upside?
