Yakemchuk & Fiddler as future replacements for Jensen & Zub would certainly help make Ottawa's defence much tougher to play against especially the 3rd pairing with Kleven - Fiddler.![]()
Charting Blake Fiddler’s path from skates with his dad to the 2025 NHL Draft
After starring for Team USA at the U18 Worlds, Fiddler could be a first-round pick in the 2025 NHL Draft.www.nytimes.com
He could be an option at 21. I wouldn't hate it.
Fiddler also provides some insurance if Yakemchuk doesn't cut itYakemchuk & Fiddler as future replacements for Jensen & Zub would certainly help make Ottawa's defence much tougher to play against especially the 3rd pairing with Kleven - Fiddler.
I like his length , he can skate/mobility, he can defend , displays high iq, can make a good 1st pass... not looking at him for offense or his toughness.Blake Fiddler is not really tough or 'hard to play against' in the typical sense of the phrase. He defends with his feet and stick.
Good player, though. Exceptional skating for his size. Moves the puck pretty well and can create shooting lanes for himself with his lateral mobility, but I can't see him as a point producer in the NHL. Projectable but not a high-end talent.
Best case is probably like a Connor Murphy type. Should have a long career as a complementary defender.
Fits a lot of what the Senators like. Projectability, size, athleticism, bloodlines, positional scarcity.
Pronman had us taking Lakovic too. I checked his PIMS and they are shockingly low though.![]()
2025 NHL Mock Draft: Post-draft lottery top 32
Schaefer, Misa and Hagens are among the top projected picks in 2025.www.dailyfaceoff.com
So that’s not our guyPronman had us taking Lakovic too. I checked his PIMS and they are shockingly low though.
He is 6'4 though, hopefully that's good enough for our size-queen scouts.Pronman had us taking Lakovic too. I checked his PIMS and they are shockingly low though.

I'm down to four players who I think will still be on the board at #21:
1. Spence LW
2. Kindel RW
3. Nesbitt C
4. Fiddler RD
I literally had to double-check to see if that was actually Aragorn or an imposter, lmao.Kindel RW - 5'10 174 lbs![]()
Why wouldn't we trade him and elevate someone or pick someone up to expose. Trading him for something would be better than losing him for nothing. We should know well in advance. I suppose we'd have to find the right partnerWould you guys draft a goalie in the first? I think Ravensbergen is projected to go then.
Maybe kind of dumb considering the state of our prospect pool, but it seems likely/possible we will lose Leevi to expansion in a couple years.
We could but we’d be reduced to only teams that don’t have a goalie they want to protect which means we have limited options for an already generally poor goalie market. Why wouldn't we trade him and elevate someone or pick someone up to expose. We can't use a 1st on a goalie with the state of the pool, especially when they have no pick next year in all likelihood.
They desperately, desperately need some offensive skill. Not sure how good a guy you can hope for at 21, but a guy like Carbonneau, Reschny, Kindel, etc . are types of guys that we haven't drafted since 2020. They are desperately, desperately needed
21. Ottawa Senators: Jack Nesbitt, C, Windsor Spitfires
It has been a while since the Sens drafted a center, and I expect that’s the direction they go with this pick. Nesbitt and Milton Gastrin fit the two-way competitiveness with good size profile they covet more than Kindel or Cullen Potter (who may both be wings at the next level despite their listings as centers).
Lakovic is a winger who really fits their profile, but I doubt he’ll last beyond the teens.
Yeah, I thought that was interesting too, though you can always convert a center to the wing.Interesting that Wheeler believes we want a centre.
I wonder if they don’t see Cozens as a C long-term or they just want insurance - never really hurts to have centre depth, we utilized ours heavily to change our line-up (Kastelic, Ostapchuk, Norris). At least on the surface though we’re more in need of wingers.
Lol @ the PIMS though. It is pretty funny at this point.
