Yeah but not by as much as you'd think. Some of these big rumors leak months before the window actually opens. Jesus to Arsenal was an open secret with 2 months to go last season.
Sorry, I meant it’s a bit early in his career still to be making the move to mls. These big international stars are usually a little bit more…shot by the time they come over, no?

Eh, he's 35. He still has some time left in him but the second he left Barca he full on entered the latter career Maradona phase of the cycle, just without (as much?) cocaine.

I didn't like the substitutions but maybe that's just USA's lack of a bench.

Anyone have deets on why Reyna is getting no playtime?

Injuries, and has only played about 5 games worth of minutes for Dortmund in league play this year after missing the vast majority of last season. I think he probably will see action against the Dutch off the bench especially if we're playing from behind.

Well...I'm glad I watched and we won, but I can't say this match did anything to improve my lack of enthusiasm for this game. First off- an elimination game where all one team has to do is tie, and one team must win- in a game that routinely ends in scoreless ties is kinda shitty.

- Endless diving, every 30 sec or so is intolerable
- Seemingly arbitrary criteria for what constitutes an actual foul
- The clock continuing to tick while guys flop around like fish on the ground. Why not shut it off? The actual time remaining at the end a mystery to all except the official

I think parts of the game are really exciting but I couldn't see myself getting into being a fan on a regular basis.

They've been ruling guys offside for having their shoelaces 1/8 of an inch offside so I am not surprised
You ain't wrong, though that's technically the way VAR is supposed to work. The issue is this multi-angle shit from all these new and weird angles that we're not even 100% the angle that caught is fully syncing up or giving false positives (like this one). There's a reason that review systems like this shouldn't be introduced until the bugs are worked out at lower competition levels first.

Club World Cup and Gold Cup would be good introduction points (I'd say Copa America as well but there would be riots, literally) then once it's for sure working right introduce to qualifiers and only then the WCF after. And even there it should be checked to confirm it's not a false positive like this one was.

Also I'm sure it's just a coincidence that the two teams that had the most chance to benefit from bad offside VAR calls using this new system were Qatar and Iran, in the first World Cup held in the Middle East. Nope nothing fishy there.

watched live.

Football is my nr 2, and I'm a Dortmund and Liverpool fan.

Weah goal was bullshit. He was NOT off side. You can use the f***ing mow line in the grass and see it's not offsides.
Good calls, fellow Dortmund aficionado, and though my EPL team are the Gunners Liverpool has always been my second choice. Ajax are The Team for me though since the Eredivisie was the only top league carried on US TV back in the day.
