I'm curious that if the Jackets start winning whether the kvetching will diminish....
Take a look at any regularly successful team's fanbase around here, and you'll know immediately that the answer is "no". :)

But the nature of said kvetching will change, and frankly that would be a relief. ;)

I've asked the Atlanta contingent to provide a bit of info on him as far as what to expect. One response so far, but I won't post anything until there's more.

Just stopping by to say that Dan Kamal is one of the best play by play callers I've had pleasure to listen too in Atlanta. Even pre and post game he is very good as I understand this will be his role in Columbus Fox Sports.

It's worthwhile to follow him on twitter as he is usually very good with lineup changes, injury updates etc.

You guys are very lucky, he is a real pro.

Thanks for the info. We look forward to a new voice on the broadcast team. As you can tell if you read earlier posts, his predecessor was not a favorite of many.

Really impressed with Kamal and Maetzold...good pair pre and post game. Natalie still bothers me, but I know I'm in the minority there (for some reason).

I can't stand Rimer's mispronunciations or name errors. Mike Foligno? Johnny Mooo-er? Jared Bull?

Jim Day's shoes can't be filled by Raffi 2 or Natalie Taylor. I guess if I have to watch someone that has a constant forced smile and has no idea what they are talking about hockey wise, I'll go with Natalie.

In his defense, Mike Foligno is the father of Nick Foligno

Yeah, but until Nick wears a cereal bowl on top of his head...

For those who don't get the reference, this was Mike's helmet:

...and Pierre Brassard is the father of Derick, etc. It's his JOB to get it right.

It may seem nitpicking regarding Rimer, but I'm just warming up for tomorrow night's arena host. Steadying myself against every in-house y'uns and y'all.

Hey, what ever happened to Jim Day I know he covers pregame for the Reds but I remember he was once involved with the jackets or am I just seeing things?

Here's the short version of the story.

During the 08-09 season the broadcasters were told not to bring up John H.McConnell (owner who had died before the start of the season) when the Jackets clinched a playoff spot by some A hole in management. He did it anyway, as he should have, and was canned my the Jackets after the season ended.

That's ******** what's the problem with bringing him up ? he's an important figure in the history of the Jackets

I love listening to him before the Reds games very organized rarely screws up

I never understood it. He has been by far the best 3rd mic guy the Jackets have ever had and his is great for the Reds.

I thought Jim Day was fired for being critcal of the Jackets after another typical bad game?

He does a nice job for the Reds and wish he was still around.

Nope, the JHM stuff was the main reason, but I do believe there was other things he said that someone in management did not like, but this was the last straw.

Im gonna be honest first impressions of the new cast left a bad taste in my mouth but then again im not a fan of change. After seeing the new faces in the studio I prayed that we at least still had Davidge and Rimmer. I was relived they were still there. i have been listening to the voices of those two men from the start since I first started getting into the great sport of hockey. Im not fond of the new trend of every professional sports team attempting to get there own Erin Andrews. Look she is a one of a kind and the first of her breed. Im gonna put it straight. Its very difficult to sit and watch some semi hot chick who obviously does not know jack about my team stand there and yack about a script she memorized hours before trying not to jumble her words. Just had to get that off my chest

Thanks!

Must say that I like Rimer's new look, not quite so...vampire-ish. The new guy in the studio reminds me of Gilbert Gottfried, so that's a bit weird! He may turn out OK, though. If I'm not mistaken, Natalie has been in the hockey broadcasting business for awhile, now, so she may have picked up a bit of knowledge along the way. In any case, she doesn't bother me and I much prefer her to any of her predecessors.
