A highschool buddy is a division rival goalie. Interesting nights are when he plays against the Isles.

I'm betting Kinkaid too:laugh:
first person that came to mind, and then two other guessing it as well.
makes sense though.

Who the hell is Rocket? Make sense when you lie people.
Rick Tocchet -> Rocket
Not that unreasonable.

I went to elementary with Joe Nieuwendyk's nephew (got to meet him and his gold medal after Salt Lake!), HS with Andy Bathgate (grandson of the great Bathgate, and former draft pick of Pittsburgh), and university with Rich Clune's cousin.

Those are the best I've got.

The first captain in Buffalo Sabres history is my first cousin twice removed. Ended up coaching them in the finals against the Flyers. We've never met. He probably doesn't know I exist.

As a kid I met Brian Bradley numerous times. He grew up five or six houses down the street from my grandparents. Their is a park on the quite street they grew up on. My dad flooded the rink every winter and played hockey with him all the time. Brian would come home to his parents for a week every summer during his NHL career. He would see a bunch if us playing baseball or road hockey at the park. He would come and play with us. Very humble and nice person. He offered to buy his parents a bigger house but his parents would never except it. He grew up in a pretty small house too.

I once played a round of golf with Todd Bertuzzi. This was when he was in his prime and man is he a jerk. A buddy of mine and me went to play a round of golf and the Marshall told us that we would be paired up with the next twosome. It was Bertuzzi and a buddy of his. He wanted nothing to do with us.

My mom works with Mike Hoffman's mom.

I was at my cousins wedding a few years back. Her husband is first cousins with Kevin Klein. Because my brother and me are huge hockey fans we were placed with our wives at a table with Kevin, his wife and another couple. He was so open and friendly. We talked hockey the whole night. At the time my wife and his wife were both really pregnant. They really hit it off and his wife added her to Facebook.

Wife's Nephew is former NHL player Ric Jackman ....so she has two relatives with their names engraved on the Cup !!! I also know Gerard Gallant enough to say hello....he is a quiet guy and low key and eats breathes and sleeps hockey same as Dave Cameron . I knew Jeff Beukeboom as a teenager when I lived in Newmarket ONT where Jeff played as a 16? year old .

I wouldn't call him a friend but I played a couple of games against Etem when I was younger. I remember trying to defend him a few times and he was too quick. I have one memory of missing a poke check I thought for sure I was gonna get and he blew past me and scored. He gave me this sly smile like "I got you *****". It pissed me off.

Closest thing to a friend I've got in the NHL system is Zach Pochiro. The Blues draft pick. Well and Nic Kerdiles, but that's only cause I talked to him a few times on twitter before he got drafted. Told him I really wanted the Ducks to draft him. He added me on Facebook. Thought that was pretty cool.

And I guess Bobby Ryan. Met him at the NHL Awards when they did the second Getzlaf vs Ryan sketch. Thanked him for the autograph on twitter, and he thanked me for coming out to show my support for the Ducks. I told him I was a Vegas local than he thanked me for my out of town support. And after that we'd shoot jokes back and forth. When he asked everyone what shows he should get into I suggested Archer and he said he'd look into it. Don't know if he ever did or not.

But he talked to a lot of fans on Twitter. Doubt it counts.

EDIT: The whole twitter thing reminded me I would talk to Devante Smith Pelly a bit on Twitter. One I remember was he was saying "How can they replace Megan Fox in the new transformers?" and I said something like "Rosie is hotter in this." and he responded "better be". Or something like that. Totally random interactions. One game I tweeted out, "if DSP plays another game like that for the Ducks I wouldn't mind never seeing him in a Ducks jersey again"...he had a really weak game. He favorited the tweet and I felt awkward as hell. Also, at the start of Silfverberg's first season with us I was singing his praises for his hot start. His brothers and sisters started following me on twitter. I thought they were Silfverberg fans until I saw that Jakob followed all of them.

One of my friends is best friends with Zach Fucale's sister and I met him once and had supper together.

My first cousin played on the same high school team as Anthony Duclair.

Some of my friends played with Daniel Sprong and Nathan Noel.

Yeah all prospects.

Have a handful of 3rd and 4th cousins who played professional hockey but only one (Paul Henderson) is notable. Grandparents were good friends with Daryl Sittler's parents. Dad refereed almost every single major Southwestern Ontario born hockey player in the 1970s/early 1980s.

Was friends with a few Kitchener Rangers in the mid-2000s who went on to play pro but I don't feel comfortable name dropping friends I haven't talked to for almost a decade. Sister partied with most of the Rangers that played from 2010-2013. Friend of mine is cousins with the three Reinhart's.

Played all my minor hockey with the 08 class. Well Stamkos/MDZ/Petro etc, we all played GTHL together.

Im good friends with Dan Carcillo and his brother, and my dad plays golf a few times a year with Claude Lemieux (Know Brendan as a result).

Dad played high school puck with Sean Burke and Rick Tocchet, and Bruce Boudreau grew up a block away from me ( but like 50 years earlier than I did) haha.

Good friend of mine plays for Choate prep (big hockey school in Mass.) but played his first few years of high school at PEAC Hockey School here with Jordan Subban, McJesus and Ho-Sang.

Really good family friends have one son whoo played for Owen Sound from 2012-14, and a son who was Sudburys 1st round pick this year and plays for them now. Thru them Ive met quite a few OHL guys, Jordan Binnington who's a Blues prospect is one who really got along with me.

My dad is pretty good friends with, and still plays in an old timer's league with John Anderson. Although Anderson is now coaching the Chicago Wolves, but in the off season they hang out and play hockey. Pretty sweet.

Myself, personally know Sean Burke. Great guy and a friend for life

An athlete replying to you on Twitter is hardly noteworthy.

This is what I knew the thread would be. Some poster saying they are friends with a player, yet that player barely even knows who they are.

While one isn't in the NHL and the other is playing like he wants to join him, Chris and Anthony Stewart are cousins.

Well Pochiro does. I've set him up on goals. Hearing he went to the WHL was a big surprise.

My boss is Craig Patrick's son, but I've never met Craig or anything. We talk hockey all the time, (my boss and i) I never really bring up his dad, though. Still pretty awesome. Must be nice being in the family a damn NHL division was named after. Lol
