would you take Miller instead?
We can't afford either in that situation because we don't have the cap space. And I suspect being willing to move Sillinger is giving up on him too quickly.

And the whole point is to get someone who can work better defensively.

It's early but Monahan seems to have recovered from his hip issues that were plaguing him. He has not looked out of place in the top 6 and is third in points on the Habs. We are debating on our board whether to flip him for another first or extend him due to his younger age.
Thats very generous optimism

He does that to protect his source
If he says, "a source told me" the organization looks for the source
If he speculates on a glaring issue, despite being tipped off by his source, it's a bit less obvious, or at least keeps the hounds at bay.
Personally I think he's just speculating without a source on this one.

Not sure why it is. He got fixed, and shows it. "Never felt this good" were his words. So far, with already 10 games in the season, he delivers. I think it deserves some optimism and can trigger the thought that if he keeps on going, he might be valuable at 50% retention comes TDL...

So 'tis. Regrettably, the extra year on Henrique's contract would make it just that much harder to retain Gavrikov and Chinakhov.
Chinny's a 10.2(c) RFA. Unless he REALLY pops off this season, that's gonna keep his AAV down. Can't sign an offer sheet or go to arb.

May I interested them in one used Jeff Carter, who has an illustrious history there.

I feel for guys like Friedman. The internet blew up after the cap. Imagine the insanity of 80's and 90's moves, with the internet. But now that not much is going on because every team has to have the mindset of a small market team in the no cap days, and the big boys can't just spend whatever when they do spend, trade rumors, and trades themselves, just aren't what they used to be.

Columbus is in the state of Ohio where JT Miller is from so its a perfect match. And Vancouver loves its Russians so:

To Vancouver: Gavrikov, 2024 1st (top 5 protected), 2023 2nd

To Columbus: Miller, Burroughs, 2024 5th

As we have reiterated time and time again for the last six months or more, JT Miller has zero ties to Columbus. New Palestine is in Pittsburgh's sphere of influence, and Pittsburgh is where he actually grew up. Cole Sillinger has a stronger claim to being tied to Columbus (having been born here) and yet he plays for Team Canada. It's like claiming someone born in Hull is naturally going to go to the Habs 'cause that's technically in Quebec, regardless of it being in Ottawa's metro area and regardless of whether or not that someone moved across the border as a toddler. The Jackets fanbase is collectively sick to bloody f***ing death of this particular line of bullshit argument and will not waste any more time with it. It's done. We're done. No.

Whenever people stop talking about it. So, not any time soon.

He announced on the last podcast that he finds it too stressful to to do the blog AND his tv duties so he's going to wind down the blog in its current form. He said he'd like to transition to something more frequent but much smaller.

Irregardless Im sure hed love to come to his home state and play for the Blue Jackets even if its a few more kilometres away from home than Pittsburgh is. Columbus needs a Centre and JT Miller could be THAT guy. Canucks need a big heavy RD like Gavrikov so a deal like this makes a lotta sense pal

Friedman got exactly what he wanted when he looked at HFBoards and saw this thread today, all from another nothing burger he just threw out there.

I mean, I can guarantee he couldn’t even begin to pretend to be interested in what’s being said here.

Not sure why you’d think someone like that needs “clicks”.

This isn't a rumor, so why is it labelled as such?

Just wondering why, six pages later, the appropriate tag (speculation) hasn't been put on this thread.

Something around Miller and Vora makes way too much sense.
Or some other cap from CBJ, even Gudbranson.
Add pick/prospect as req and get er done.
