Freidman was on the fan today and it doesn't sound like Jack will be back Freidman said they were very far apart that the Leafs Inital offer was 3 years at around 2.75 million per year.

This report makes me so happy, low ball the shit out of Campbell because if he takes it then he's a backup making backup money

if you piss him off then you can go out and get a real #1 and hopefully a real backup to, because you can't bring him back he's to injury prone and when he did play he sucked, you need to trade him or LTIR him or something but you need to use that money elsewhere.

but Back to Campbell it doesn't sound like he's back and that's a good thing we need better than a 3.15 GAA and 897 save% come playoff time.

We need a guy that can close when he gets the chance, he had 3 cracks it against Montreal and 2 against Tampa and couldn't get it done.

I said it before I will say it again we need John Gibson you put John Gibson on this team and we aren't having these conversations we are talking about Florida.

Be careful with John Gibson. He’s been overworked by Anaheim, faced a ton of losing and rubber in the past 3 years and also been hurt at times. He was once a young shining star but you’ll have to see what the downturn in Anaheim has done to him. He’s a terrific athlete and locked in for a while but do your homework on this one or it’s an albatross contract. If it works it’s a home run.

Could he another Hyman situation and Leafs shouldn't cave.

Look at Colorado last year letting Grubauer walk and trading for Keumper later in the offseason.

Good on Leafs management.

Campbell gave us adequate Chris Osgood level goaltending in the Tampa series, so I don’t want criticize him too much or be too harsh to a heart and soul goalie performance, but the Leafs are not the 90s Detroit Red Wings.

If we scrounge up some money to spend we need a serious goalie to give the Big 4 a real Plan B game. We likely can’t count on the big guns out scoring our problems in elimination games. Our role players don’t have that killer instinct to lift them up. I like Ville Husso.

Obviously this offer was made last summer before putting up a solid season as the starter. Either the leafs offer him a longer term to keep the aav low or vice versa. If Dubas tries to nickel and dime his agent, he'll walk to the dozens of other teams who will be lined up to sign him.

Hyman could easily be replaced, a starting goalie cant (not with the current market). The time for that was last summer and Dubas whiffed hard with Mrazek.

For Campbell's sake I hope he moves on to a team with an actual NHL goalie coach and a fanbase that isn't bipolar. He can be a good 1B somewhere and I'm sure he'll get a contract for around $4m.

For the Leafs' sake they need a more reliable #1. But I wouldn't be shocked if Toronto goes into the season with Mrazek as the #1 due to Dubas' ineptitude

He also whiffed hard on Ritchie and won that deal when moving him. It's going to be hard to give the goaltending a face-lift, but it can be done.

I like Soupy but we also have to be realistic. He'll be turning 30 soon, and he hasn't yet shown that he can be a No. 1, even this past season. He should be taking backup money, and 2.75 sounds about right to me. Somehow rid ourselves of Mrazek so we can try to somehow find ourselves a true No. 1, even if that means trading a Nylander.

Only LAK scored fewer goals in Game 7 than the Leafs did. Mike Smith was also the only goalie to have given up less than Toronto's output. I really can't see how that was on Campbell. While it's fine enough to determine that he isn't the answer, the goalie that will be the answer still needs to be identified. That offer of 2.75M x 3 isn't at all likely to get a deal done in this case. I hope that offer also isn't a strict ballpark of what is earmarked for the position if and when Dubas has to go shopping.

Campbell was fine in that series and gave them a chance to win. But having seen a full season of his work, are you comfortable with locking in 3-4 seasons of high highs, serious lows and then sort of good but not series stealing goaltending? At a premium mark up to this season? I’m not sure. I think we need to invest in a long term solution like the original Freddie Andersen deal. That’s why names like Husso would be appealing.

This is probably better on the Anaheim board who have watched him play but has Gibson been that bad or is it just a case of playing on a bad team. I can look up his stats and I don’t need advanced stats to tell me if he’s been good or not. People that have seen him has his game fallen of that much?

I don't agree that he gave us a chance to win. Both of the goals in Game 7 were weak IMO. Game 7 was a low event game. Shut the door for your team. Vas did it.

Fan base that’s bipolar? Seems like your lumping the largest fan base with its few over the top fans. The Leafs failures is not the fans fault. This fan base has been more than patient and deserves success. We pay for the small teams to even exist. I understand some fans are upset we all are but blaming the fans is bullshit.
