That's for sure...
Brendan Smith deal looking better and better...
Look, I am really happy with who we picked. Andersson is a kid I watched during the play-offs and Chytil I started tracking a bit when Joey Bones mentioned him a few months ago. They weren't bad picks but people were overreacting as if they are another McIlrath
They weren't sexy picks but they are very solid players.
The Rangers also tried to move up to 3. They did their best with how the board broke and got two centers who are good bets to be NHL players. Andersson is going to be solid no matter what. Chytil has a higher ceiling than Andersson. The Rangers did massively screw up by not taking Reedy and trading down. Also I liked the Sjalin pick. The rest was bad though.
The Bruins are supposed to be in on him.
SWeekes reported on NHL Network last night that there were offers from - NYR, TB and NJ, and only NJ went to 7 years. All three were in the same range AAV-wise, and NYR and TB were only 4 years.
Hmmm..
Rangers should bump it to 5 years.. and see what happens.
Ranger fans are so afraid of giving anyone a big contract, because we've given them out before to players who were A. past their prime (see Richards) or B. weren't worth it at the time to begin with (Girardi/Staal)...
This ^^^^I know money talks, but he went from playing with the Blues in the playoffs to playing with the Caps in the playoffs,, Rangers have been a perennial playoff team, and they have been to 2 ECF and a SCF in the last 4 seasons...
You couldn't pay me enough money to play for the Devils right now.. That's just me tho.. others are different.
Or some of us don't see the point of handing out big money to a guy who isn't going to put this team over the top.
Others don't think hes worth it. At 7x6.5-7 I would agree.
This ^^^^
That's likely the reason he turned down the TBL sign and trade at 7x7. They're pretty much out
Bern, handshake deals are not allowed. And now you put it out on the internet for the whole world to see! We are doomed!
Hmmm..

Demers rejects a deal to Canucks , should nyr go for him on the cheap ?
Well they would have their top RHD..
what if with Nash off the books, etc, they could also land JT next year if he hits FA.
You just fixed your 2 biggest holes (not in the same off season) but still..
99.9% chance JT won't hit FA. He may not sign with the Isles, but they'll trade him before he has a chance to walk.
Even when Nash comes off the books, other guys will need raises. People keep assuming that the ELC and 2nd contract guys aren't going to get raises. They are, some of them will be very significant.
I'm glad that they're being very prudent with Shattenkirk. If you can get him on your terms, great. If not, he can enjoy being a part of the next perpetual rebuild in NJ.
oooh, I'm scared --- NOT
people can have unofficial memo of understanding where things would pick up, and starting point thereto, for what happens after his 1 yr would be up
