They way this is turning out I'm expecting Shattenkirk and Thornton to be Rangers by end of day.

Seems like we have a lot of defensemen if Shatt is in.... can this mean a trade of our Capt?

The Shattenkirk deal has to be confirmed, right? NBC even tweeted it. Have they ever prematurely tweeted something that turned out to be incorrect?

Maybe not the term. I'm overall in the "trade him now" camp. Which I'm sure scares more than those numbers.

I need to see him play a full season with not Girardi first. Its hard to judge him with that corpse tied to him.

I would love McDonagh at those numbers.

I wouldn't. The only players that should be getting 8 year deals are franchise players, especially later in their careers. McD is a very good defensemen but he has also been injured and if they have strong LD depth when it comes time to re-sign him at age 29, it's either a deal like they're looking to give Shatty 4 years, or they trade him/let him walk.

No more long contracts for players in their late twenties for millions and millions unless they're franchise players.

Did it? TB signed him on their terms rather than the garbage contract the Rangers gave him, and gave up no assets, big difference. The Rangers would have had to likely retain significant money and the return still would have only been a late pick. I don't think that he really lost anything.

Rangers retaining 2.5M x 3 Years (7.5M) is less than the buyout costs us (12.1+M). It's a loss. Even if we got back a 7th it would've saved 4.5M vs. the cap.

Hahahaha. The guys on TSN are saying Elliott is the first proper goalie for Philly in 20 years... And Marty Biron is sitting right there next to them
