Can’t give
Yeah. Keeping Hornqvist and letting Marchment go is a massive L for me
Cannot give if no one is taking Horny. I think that Marchment will continue his injury prone ways. I’m surprised he didn’t go to the Sharks.

Duclair would have been the logical option but he got hurt. Horny was not getting moved once we traded away all the assets at TDL.
Was this the expectation? I thought Florida figured they were close and with a new coach were in contention for the Cup, they're not even going to have home ice round 1 with this team.

This roster is a clear step back.

To move overpriced Horny and useless playoff Duclair? I'm not in the holy shit this is gonna be a struggle to make the playoff group camp, but I am in the I don't see a chance in hell they win a round camp, which kinda sucks lol.
A feasible response! Duclair getting injured nixed his trade appeal. And I guess no takers for Hornqvist. Surprised no buyout though.

Horny was fine last season. At his age, you don't know how much longer he can manage that, but he definitely wasn't a problem. His cap hit, that's kind of a problem. Unfortunately, the team has no assets left to trade away with him to remove that problem.

Thanks, Yandle!

IIRC Duke getting injured now didn't hurt us right away, and since it is an Achilles injury it could be a year long injury based off NFL recoveries. Especially since Duke uses his speed to make plays. I know they stated mid season 2022-23 so maybe the tear wasn't bad, but I'll be amazed if he's cleared before the TDL.

If they bought out Horny, that would of left us ~6mil factoring in Duke being on LTIR. It is what it is. Just sucks based off bad drafting/trading away prospects we will be facing a depth issue for at least next year.

This was where we were headed, at least for this year. And as much as people are panicking, the big pieces are all still there.

We do need one more forward IMO; whoever we can get in the 1M range.

Where will the wingers come from? Weegar to Ottawa makes a lot of sense if we can pick up Batherson or Formenton (with pluses).

Verhaege - Barkov - Reinhart
Huberdeau - Bennett -Denisenko?
White - Lundell - Horn ?

I like the White pickup.
Doesn't make any sense to move Weegar in pursuit of yet another forward. Right now, we're looking at:

Verhaeghe - Barkov - Denisenko
Huberdeau - Bennett - Reinhart
Heponiemi - Lundell - White
Lomberg - Luostarinen - Hornqvist

I’m fine with not overspending on signings. If giroux wanted 6.5 and play for a lesser team then so be it, that’s his choice. Although, now Ottawa looks a lot better so not too bad of a signing on his part now. Or signing Marchment if he ends up getting big money in Carolina. It is what it is. Coming off Tallon that’s actually a good quality to have. And if Weegar wants crazy money, send him off for assets. We’ll see what Huberdeau wants.

I’m more disappointed in the lack of trades to open up cap. Duclair, Bennett, montour, Gudas, horn, bob if possible, nothings happened.

If we move Weegar it has to be for a comparable defenseman. Someone like Chychrun as you already mentioned I believe.

Getting rid of Weegar for forward help makes no sense.

Well. We are definitely going to be scoring less.
Ottawa's top 6f Claude Giroux, Alex DeBrincat, Brady Tkachuk, Drake Batherson, Tim Stutzle and Josh Norris.

That is competitive with ours at full health

Verhaeghe Barkov Duclair
Huberdeau Bennett Reinhart

To say we took a step-back both by subtraction and other's teams addition is an understatement. This past season Ottawa couldn't hold a candle.

Our depth also took a dive obviously with Marchment gone and Reinhart having to now move up.

Our bottom 6, outside Lundell, looks very very underwhelming.

That's a big leap of faith putting two rookies in top 9 with one on top line without a huge pedigree. I'm ok with it but still think they are missing a top 6 winger and no idea how they get one without dangling Weeger?

Tampa sign Cirelli to 8 years @ 6.25M$

How the hell they gonna fit everyone on that roster next season?

LTIR half?

More like multiple LTIR
Bolts will be 100% fine. Next season, they'll have about $11m in cap space with the following signed:

xxxx - Point - Kucherov
xxxx - Cirelli - Stamkos
Hagel - Paul - xxxx
Maroon - xxxx - Barre-Boulet

Hedman - Cernak
Sergachev - xxxx
xxxx - xxxx

Vasilevsky

So you want to get a top 6 winger by trading away a top 4 defenseman. Then who do we get to replace Weegar? His current contract for what he brings is good value!

Denisenko is a former lottery pick. He has fine pedigree. Unideal, but whatever. Nothing is.
Hippo is more than ready to play third line winger. I don't have a single worry about that.

If we lose Weegar, then we go from an average blue line to a firmly below average blueline. We'd be one (inevitable) Ekblad injury away from...

Forsling - Gudas
Carlsson - Montour
Kiersted - AHLer
