Should we really look at 5 years with guys like Skjei and Hayes? Isn’t 6-8 years better?
It is but as you start buying out UFA years, the contract gets more expensive. It may keep the AAV down to do 5 years and then look at trading both of them before the contract expires. If you can get away with 6, by all means. 8 is a stretch. Especially for Skjei. I like the kid but 8 years is a long time to commit.

I heard there was a serious NYR interest. Twice. But as I understand it, no match has been found - yet - of the other moving pieces.
Brooks was the mouthpiece, again.

Rangers are targeting high profile players. They wanted Lucic is Draisaitl was a part of that deal

It makes a ton of sense they are interested in him. Gorton drafted him in Boston. If Edmonton would be willing to add, he could be a useful 2nd line winger for the next few years and then a 3rd line winger following that.

I’m with you but what’s the add? Does that include them keeping some salary? Gotta be worth our while to take that contract.

If a player accepts his QO, I can't complain. In the case of these 4 players and their AAV, it means a 5% raise, at a lower AAV because the signing bonus isn't included.

I like the Gilmour deal. So many backup options on defense.

Watch us play O'Gara anyway.

All the young players will be at camp to prove to the new coaching staff they want a spot on the roster, if O'Gara out performs players like Gilmour then so be it.

The reason to call him Fast is because he has decided to go by Fast.

The same way our top goalie prospect may go by Shestyorkin or he may go by Shesterkin.

The same way after years Conor Sheary decided he wants to be called "Sharey" not "Sheery" and how after years Mike Stanton decided he wanted to go by Giancarlo Stanton.

It's the players preference and that's what he has decided on.

They may take our lives...but they'll never take....our freedom!

Fasth for life beotches.

Haha, I actually agree with you. His family goes by Fasth. I recon he will go by Fasth when he returns to Sweden. Old spelling of ‘Robust’ in Swedish, Fast would be a bit unusual name in Sweden, it’s one of those words that isn’t pronuouced like it should be, it’s pronounced like it’s spelled Fasst, the h signals that it’s pronounced Fasst instead of Fast. The h was dropped in the ‘robust’ meaning without another s being added.

I don’t know how he ended up dropping it in the US, I know that he was listed as Fast by NYR since that is his legal name, probably one of those spur of the moment things.

He should be Fasth IMO. Jonathan Audy-Marchessault is another one, he dropped the Audy part. Your name is what it is, why drop stop? Magnus Paajarvi-Svensson. We can’t call these guys JAM and MPS — nobody understand what it means. MZA.

How long is it before these guys stars going by their first name on the jerseys like soccer players? If I was a coach and a Fabregas wanted to have a Cech on his jersey I would throw him out. Imagine Zibanejad with Mika on the back, that is the moment I stop following NYR. The ‘don’t step on the NYR logo in the locker room’ thing established by Dubi and co got me close — but I could accept them being childish. But you got to draw the line somewhere.

Coming from a country that everyone call each other by the first name - often by nicknames - I couldn't care less about what they choose to put on their Jersey. Just freaking play good hockey and I'm satisfied.

I wonder how far apart is the ask from Gorton versus what Chiarelli is willing to give
