Honestly, if we're going to waste picks, might as well spend them on Pietrangelo. Kid's a stud.

didn't i read, he wants one?
to me that just says he doesn't want to be where he is, and so, ergo - let's to it, Nonis.

If that's the case that he isn't pleased in STL, maybe there's a trade that can be worked out. I'd hate to see Petro in the East and even more in our division. Shudder

well STL said they will match any offer sheet.
I don't even know what they need.

I always try to believe in our GM, but I really had to do some

when he said that our backend was fine and can be completed internally. [paraphrase]

I'd follow this team to the ends to the earth, without (little) complaint, but even I won't say it's fine.

To have any chance at a offersheet not being matched for pietrangelo the AAV would have to be over 8.4 at absolute minimum and there's no guarantee it wouldn't get matched at that amount.

He's never said he's not happy in the 'Lou, as far as I know. Why wouldn't he be? They're a couple small pieces from contending, and he's a hero there...

Not necessarily. He may want to stay there but holds the money/term to a higher priority and is willing to risk going to another team in favour of that. He could still sign an offer sheet with the hope that the Blues match it.

then why ask for an offer sheet?

This right here is how I was going to respond to your question, Daisy. If he's looking for top-dollar and term from the Blues, signing an offer-sheet would be an easy way to guarantee he gets it (especially if St. Louis says they're going to match). We all know that the only way you bother offer-sheeting a player is if you think there's a chance the other team might not match. It's sneaky, and shows some guile that I wouldn't want to see out of one of my top players...

I was listening to the fan 590 and the guy hosting the show - George russick? He said Thomas Vanek may be on the block. Not sure how reliable he with rumors and news but do you guys think Vanek is a legit #1 Center?

If we some how end up getting a #1 Center, how does this effect our team? We can't move Bozak to line three cause we have Bolland there.

Wouldn't Bozak at 4.2 be too much for a 3rd liner if in fact we ever do land a true #1? Assuming Kadri is our line two Center. Curious of your thoughts on this.

Doesn't Vanek play LW, or did he make a Benn-esque switch I didn't hear about?

He doesn't play center.... how much does that factor into your question?

He's not a centre.

If the Leafs do get a 1st liner centre, I would put Bozak and Bolland, 3 and 4.

I would absolutely kill to have Vanek on this team, regardless of needing a C.

Lupul - Bozak - Kessel
JVR - Kadri - Vanek
Kulemin - Bolland - Clarkson
McLaren - McClement - Orr

WOW!!!

Well if we are gonna add vanek...either Jvr, Kulemin or Kadri would have to go the other way correct? Obviously not straight up...but i would guess Buffalo would want one of them

We don't have money or assets for that now. It's all swapping at this point. So who you trade for a C? Lupul JVR? We could let go Rielly or Gardiner I guess.

You think that's a lot for a fourth liner - salary wise? I'd prefer him there but what's a good third line center go for on the market

Well it would only be for one year. What other options are there? IMO, putting Kadri on the wing would not be an option. Also, there have to be player movement if the Leafs were to acquire a centre so we would have to see what they were left with.

I'm just thinking at some point if we ever land a #1 and that's a big if... How do we manage our Centers. It would seem we have too many and Bozaks contract might be too rich for 3rd spot. Is his contract attractive enough to even trade

We are sort of stuck with this team, it's all about internal upgrades now. Rielly? Ranger for cheap? Blacker etc and hope

Toronto gets even bigger with Clarkson, and Montreal gets even smaller with Briere. I can't wait for the first bloodbath on home ice.

Don't see us adding a C now. Where are we going to put them?

Bozak
Kadri
Bolland
Colborne
McClement

Chances are McC is already on the wing.
And who there will be traded?

Not Bozie - just signed
Not Kadri - I sure hope not, top end talent, potential #1
Bolland - just acquired
McClement - hell no, way too valuable, hope he retires a leaf.
Colborne - meh. Even if he does, we can't move everyone down a line.

According to Cox, the Leafs never made an offer for Lecavalier. They probably knew he wasn't coming.

If he wasn't going to the Habs, he wouldn't go to Toronto.
