It's a great start.

Most teams winning cups have a staple top pick. Ovechkin, Crosby, Malkin, Kessel, Kane, Towes, Doughty etc..

It doesn't mean it's the only way, but having an elite talent helps with the chances of winning. This isn't subjective

I highly doubt it. Their defense sucks, they have no goalie, and the only good players up front are Barzal, Eberle, Lee, and Bailey, and we don't know what Lee and Bailey will do without Tavares.
