Not surprised to hear it reported the Rangers are out.

I really don't think they were keen to blow up everything they've done, before they even know exactly what they have, nor do I think they were interested in the financial aspects.

Again, for better or worse, I think the Rangers have a very clear vision for what they are trying to accomplish and right now they are still in the infancy of that vision.
Agreed...I think the rangers were looking at it like I am.... we'll take ek65 and that horrendous Bobby Ryan deal but all well give u is Hayes Ada and spooner. No? Ok peace out.

This is true but a couple of things to note:

1) Vegas balked at that and moved on
2) That price was for Karlsson with (2) playoff runs at a minimum.

true but people here seem to think ottawa will take spooner, pionk and a 2nd from us if we take ryan and then we can flip EK for glass and a bunch of other stuff like ottawa is suddenly not asking for a return

Not the first place it's appeared in the last 30 mins.

Thanks. Hard to keep up at work. I still dislike TFP though.

Been saying all along, it never made sense unless the Rangers got him cheap enough to profit off of dealing him elsewhere. Dipping into the pool of prospects or young roster players wasn't going to happen.

Just checked The Athletic and it's saying the Rangers are probably out as well.

Likewise, the the cost and terms were cited. Which seems to be the prevailing word.

Of course, all things subject to change without warning and at a moments notice.

Which would've been the right approach.

If they insist on kids and picks, then the Rangers should be out. EK only makes sense if he's part of the rebuild, not an alternative to it. Offer up the pieces you're willing to move to further progress the rebuild, and if that doesn't get it done, shift back to the original strategy of moving them for picks/prospects/young players.

Carp writes for the Athletic lol

I know @Edge will disagree....but I think the Bobby Ryan deal is worse than the lucic deal. At least lucic can kill ppl with hits from time to time...if Bobby Ryan isn't scoring...he does literally nothing out there.

Only slightly better IMO.

A healthy Ryan, in the right situation, might still hit 20 goals and 40 points for a while.

Not really crazy about going down either path though.

The only thing I like about Lucic in comparison is the lower cap hit. $6m vs $7.25m. I also think, if the wheels totally fall off the bus for both players, Lucic will be easier to move at half his cap hit than someone like Ryan.

well it was fun while it lasted gentleman

i don't believe they're out though

Admittedly, I have a really hard time seeing them move a good chunk of the assets they just acquired.

I think the fans want it, because we have a little bit of the battered spouse syndrome on here.

But I'm not sure the timing is there.

With that said, it's not over until he's official with another team and signed to a deal. So until that time, anything and everything is possible.

Yea Rotter and Carp said...

Real credible beat writers for us...

In other words, any beat writer or source that says something you don't want to hear, they aren't trustworthy. Got it.
