As others have said, the average cap hit for any player on a NHL roster is well over $3m. The cap is no longer $60m. These contracts may seem high and like all UFA’s, they probably are, but this is the new norm
It's just a general point on UFA vs. RFA negotiations.I can’t imagine negotiating against more than one or two other teams for someone like Moore.
Yeah, I’d take a flyer on some underperforming kids from some team looking to move on at some point. I am fine with that defense. I couldn’t care less about going for it this year or even winning in general.
Kukan is very underrated, and I'd prefer him to a guy like O'Gara for 3LD. I'd also absolutely love to get Lukas Sedlak from Columbus too
Add Nick Shore to this list too as a UFA target .

He gets most of his money up front every season. For example, this year he’ll get $15M+ up front and during the year he will get bi-weekly paychecks that aren’t very much.
Matt Martin come on back to NYC. Makes too much sense given the Rangers wanted Reaves
Yeah I think the most important thing to do is figure out what they have in ADA. Is he a flop? A Schultz/Krug PP specialist? More? He's the biggest question mark in the pool for me right now.
Literally no clue who you are.

The benefit is all to Tavares. The contract is buyout proof as signing bonuses are not subject to the 2/3rds payout. If Toronto were to buyout the contract at any point, they would basically save nothing.
Also, if there is a lockout in couple years, Tavares still gets his money.
Yes you do.
Just think 13.
I was never able to recover my original name. I was literally one of the first on these boards, as a poster and a writer. Come on Jon, you know.....
I wonder if Toronto is wishing they traded for McDonagh at the deadline so they could have re-signed him and then signed Tavares. Would have been a coup
Bluenote, is that you?Yes you do.

I get it, but it doesn’t really make much sense as there are only a handful of times that this will ever be the case.

Read my post again and actually consider that it might be trueIt's a waste of time, but be my guest....

Getting hurt when he was getting quality ice time did not help.
To Leafs: Karlsson at 50%
To Sens: Liljegrin, Spooner, Leafs #1
To Rangers: Ryan, Martin, Nylander
Do it do it now!
Don't see any propeller hat.Has to be
