Everyone knows you over pay in free agency . Rangers have the most cap space in the league . No reason to not sign at least one 3rd line or 4th line veteran / Tuff guy to fill out the roster . Give a two year contract

I get that. The post was about cap space not rolling over. My point is that you also want to be looking at the future. This team is going nowhere this year, so all moves should be looked at from a longer term perspective. And for all I know they are looking to take on a bad contract for more assets...if that's the case there's no reason not to keep as much cap space open right now.

Obviously misery loves company, and the Isles getting worse and their fans suffering makes me feel a little bit better. But honestly the Leafs fan base is top 4 in terms of annoying and that was prior to JT going there. I feel like TML won the JT sweepstakes but all of HF lost having to listen to them for years to come.

So true
Hope they fail
Miserably

Lets see how Hank feels after another season.
He’s already ahead of the curve. He didn’t leave us in his prime.

Hank didn’t bolt to join an already strong team. We wanted to do it with the Rangers. Almost did too. At least when he says how much he loves NY and being a Ranger he means it. Him getting traded at this point would he cup chasing so it would be different anyway.

Because they are a delusional fan base that thought bringing in Lou Lams would somehow keep Tavares. That Lou Lams thread was GOLDEN on the main boards.

My brother and nephew are both Devil fans, and they find the ‘Lou is the savior’ mantra amusing at best.

Hey, for what it's worth, I wouldn't be surprised if in the not too distant future, the Islanders had to relocate (I know, I know. Belmont Arena, but I'm expecting it to fail.) and Blueshirt Nation had to absorb many Islanders fans.

Boston signing John Moore is weird. Don't they have Chara, Miller and Krug down the left already? Wonder if they have a deal in the works to trade someone for a forward.

Long term replacement for Chara who is a low tier 2nd pairing guy, mostly a 3rd pairing guy. Moore cashed out hard, gotta give him credit, he milked a journeyman career out to 3 or 4 contracts

Still hoping for a move like Colin Miller. Some under the radar guy ready to break out in a bigger role.
Any ideas of who you'd look at? The ones that I see following a similar trajectory are still prospects and most likely not available for trade.

One guy I'd like as a depth RD signing is Paul Postma.

On July 1st, feel like no news for the rangers is good news.

Besides, Tavares to the leafs... :)

No news is good news honestly, and what news do we want to hear anyway? I think we need to make a move or two to help the rebuild along but we're kind of in an odd spot. No point in making a big splash for someone like EK, and everything else feels like a lateral move at best. Are we trading a young C for another young C or wing, just to fill one hole by creating another? The next move needs to be carefully planned out or it's not worth making one.

I have no sympathy for the Piles or their obnoxious fans.

Glad JT skunked them on his way out.
Nassau Salvation Army has reported a massive influx of 91 Isles jerseys, since they can’t give them away locally they are packaging them with leftover Gorton fish sticks jerseys and sending them to U.N. Relief efforts in Syria....

It’s a lot easier for you guys to say it’s not . But we’ll see how many people are still here after 4 years of rangers not making playoff (counting last season )

I'll bet you $1 they make the playoffs in the next 3 seasons. Definitely not this year, but perhaps the year after, and certainly the year after that imo.

So far, Free Agency is a success for NYR. No stupid contracts (yet), Tavares out of the division... less is more all day

Best part about the last two weeks for me has been watching Gorton **** all over the dreams of people who thought the rebuild was a lie and we were going to be chasing big names like we always do.
Now you have people saying he is asleep at the wheel.

It absolutely confirms my theory that a number of posters don't actually care whether we win or lose but rather get the most enjoyment out of bitching about what we didn't do.
