GDT: Free Agent Frenzy--9am PST, 7/1/15

Can't see us paying the price for Yandle. Oduya would be a nice pickup at something short for under $4 million.

Unless the league can prove to their satisfaction he did beat up his wife, in which case an arbitrator having seen the evidence might agree with supplemental discipline.

Then like I said, he has to play his home games in front of a crowd that's booing him constantly. The puck goes off his skate and into the net ONE TIME and the boos will get louder and louder.

I'm just sayin, I think it's in the franchise's best interest to move on from Voynov, no matter what.

Kings need him. That's the deal for now. Unless they acquire a replacement they're not dumping him for PR purposes.

Of course the Kings are "in" on Oduya. Ecklund just repeating what everyone knows, that the Kings are looking for a defenseman.

Moving on from Voynov means more nightmares from the McPair. You really want to live that again next season?

Time served. What, none of that counts? It basically amounts to a year suspension. Tacking on more would be ridiculous.

So you don't think the NHL should even bother investigating this? That's basically what you're saying. He's suffered long enough...He might still have his contract terminated if they find he purposefully bashed his wife's head against the corner of a TV.

Just because the courts didn't find him guilty doesn't mean by the NHL standard he isn't guilty.

I was with you on the last point for all of last year, now I'm not sure, depends on what turns up. I also didn't think a deal would be reached but that's what we're allegedly headed towards so yeah.

But again, I assert that a full year suspension is already longer than anything else in NHL history (technicalities exist, I know) and if he's found 'not guilty' I don't think anything turned up in an independent investigation could add to that without the PA putting Bettman in the sharpshooter.

I think they'll absolutely investigate it if for optics only but what would be their case for additional time beyond a year?

I guess they could give him a token 3 months just to look tougher on domestic violence.

Regardless, it seems that Futa/DL are counting on him coming back, but it makes sense that we're potentially linked to McBain as his understudy.

If he pleads guilty to lesser, misdemeanor charges, the league might keep him on the blocks for awhile depending on what those charges are.

kinda weird that there's no rumblings yet on guys like Oduya and Williams

would have thought they'd have been among the first to sign somewhere with plenty of offers

If anyone offers Oduya more than three mil they're gonna regret it. Hjalmarsson carried him for years, he'll be exposed unless he's paired with someone very good.
