GDT: Free Agent Frenzy--9am PST, 7/1/15

Yeah, that would make sense why Futa was talking about him coming back this season.

Exactly. That was the big tell to me. I expected the persona non grata treatment. Typical, I can't comment etc., but that wasn't what happened. I was on the never playing for the Kings again thought process until that slipped out.

I don't think we're gonna get a Dman. Lombardi might want McNabb to take that next step, though it may be premature.

I must admit that I don't follow Pittsburgh that closely but I never thought of them as a team who needs help scoring goals. In fact, I'd think it would be the opposite. Why did they feel they needed to add Phil Kessel? I just think that is odd.

Well they've been having trouble on the wing. Dupuis has been hurt, and Crosby was the one making him more than a 3rd line guy. They trade Neal. Got that damn Hornqvist for him, but that's a trade of skill for grit. Kunitz will be 36 when the season starts. They didn't/couldn't sign Hossa.

Williams is the type of guy to take his time and evaluate all his options.

I would bet he doesn't sign until the smoke of the early deals clear, and maybe not until tomorrow.

Justin Williams, Mike Green, Cody Franson, Matt Beleskey, Joel Ward, Ehrhoff, Oduya, Chris Stewart, Vermette, Marty St Louis.

Not much.

Whether you need goal scoring help or not, Kessel at 6.75M is a damn good deal.

Dumb move for the Leafs. Dude is a world class talent. Toronto is a terrible environment for players. That's their problem. Not Phil Kessel.

And what have any of those players accomplished that Dean should follow in Chicago's footsteps?

Panarin and Tikhonov will be more serviceable than any of our bottom players. Anisimov is criminally underrated , just wait and see. And Dano had 21 pts in 35 games as a 20 year old. They will more than thrive in Chicagos system.

We just missed the playoffs. Have no 1sts for 2 years and gave Mckeown away. I'd rather have Sekera at 5.5 and trade Marrinez for a 3rd line center than have 6.5 tied up on the bottom pairing.

Voynov hasn't played his last game as a King , that is why Dean didn't pay Sekera I'm guessing. However he can't return until November. Till then, we'll see how many of your freak out.

I can't see Dean being done. It wouldn't make sense.

King-Shore-Brown
Clifford-Lewis-Weal/Nolan

Mcnabb-Martinez
Forbort- Greene.

That's very bad. I love Mcnabb, Forbort needs to be developed. King is good and right where he should be but will disappear. Shore is not a 3rd line center. Lewis can't score for ****. Brown is overpaid. Clifford just runs around and is a ball of energy. Martinez shouldn't be on the 2nd pairing. Greene well you all hate him as much as I do. I cringe when he's on the ice.

How much is Cody Franson gonna be making?

If it's more than $3.5M, it'll be too expensive for the Kings. I mean, Martinez can get $4M playing on the 3rd pairing but the Kings won't pony up to pay Beachemin/Franson/Mike Green/Michalek/Martin.

Final tally on the Kessel trade

Bob McKenzie
@TSNBobMcKenzie
Kessel, Tyler Biggs, Tim Erixon and 2nd in 2016 for Kapanen, Harrington, Spaling, 1st and 3rd picks in 2016. TOR retains $1.25M/year.

We also have Schultz under contract. If we just need someone for a couple of months, they might go with him. Not saying it's ideal.

Jesus need some cheese? It's a shame that the kings have already missed the playoffs for the 2nd consecutive season. It's also a damn shame there isn't more time before for the season to start to sort things out. Sucks so much to be a kings fan these days.
