Need to get on a rant here for a moment.

In 1998, the Toronto Maple Leafs stole the Edmonton Oilers starting goalie Curtis Joseph for 4 years and $22 million. Nearly a quarter century later the Oilers steal Jack Campbell from Toronto for 5 years and $25 million.

Granted, the star power factor is a little different but this is definitely Bettman economics at work and not in a fan friendly way. The Toronto and Edmonton markets are paying 2020s prices, teams have billion dollar valuations and yet clubs are artificially handcuffed to paying their stars late 1990s salaries.

The idea that Chris Boucher makes about the same money as Auston Matthews in the same organization is just crazy to me.
Keeping players salaries down is the only thing bettman has really done for the league. Unless you're an owner, he's been brutal

This is the best I can think of right now:

If the Leafs finished up the roster like this and no one in the Atlantic makes any drastic moved they would be projected to finish 2nd in the Atlantic behind Boston and they'd play Tampa in the 1st round again.
Definitely want someone like Nino, ZAR, and Palat (obviously but might be out of our range)

Hockey just isn't that popular of a sport in America unfortunately.

Not enough people follow, play and are passionate for hockey like they are fir b-ball in the US.

f***. The Red Wings are going to be a lot better next season. Still not a playoff team yet but won't be an easy dub anymore. Ottawa too. f*** this division
so in otherwords we should defeat them more often as we wont expect to walk over them and get embarrassed by letting 9 goals in and blowing 6 goal leads.

NBA revenue: $10 billion
NHL revenue: $5 billion

And paying 20 players vs 12.

That’s true but what I’m saying is he’s just not an offensive guy in the NHL. If we really want a 6’3 break out guy, Dylan Strome is still available. I think he’s the guy we should make a play for. We can move Tavares to the wing.
True I just don't think Strome will be cheap enough for us to moneyball since he has hit the 20 goal mark and also has another season where he had 51 points in 58 games. With Dal Colle I'm looking for that 1 mil or less contract where you get 3 mil or more value.

If the Stars cant get Klingberg...Holl could be a possibilty.

Vancouver could use Holl too

Why is Kerfoot still here?

Betting, though, he's more excited about the player movement from big markets to small markets.

"Yes, players are leaving the big markets to go to Edmonton and Winnipeg! SUCCESS!"

I know people here want Strome but i dont think he's the fit we really want or need. I get it...big center is fun and all but we need kind of a rough player with skill.. Strome is not that IMO.
