The longer that Kerfoot stays on the team I wonder if he even has a market. There could be a really good 3 way trade between NJ-VAN-TOR.

VAN gets: Kerfoot, Severson, Holtz
NJ gets: Miller, Holl
TOR gets: Bastian, Schenn

NJ gets a top line power forward to play with Hughes and a 3RD to replace Severson. Vancouver gets two local players (apparently Severson spends the off season there) that would probably re-sign there as well as a top prospect. Kerfoot slides in as 3C which Vancouver wouldn't have with Miller moving (Horvat moves to 2C), Severson is probably instantly their best RD.

Toronto clears 3.8M in cap space and gets a usable RD and bottom 6 forward.

I'd prefer to keep Kerfoot as I think it's much harder to replace him than say Holl..

As for the rest of the free agents are you guys interested in any?

Best Remaining Forwards
Nazem Kadri

Paul Stastny
Ryan Donato
Jonathan Dahlen
Danton Heinen
Sam Gagner
Evan Rodrigues
Tyler Bozak
Johan Larsson
Daniel Sprong
Sam Steel
Tyler Ennis
Victor Rask
Zach Aston-Reese
Evgeny Svechnikov

Best Remaining Dman

Anton Stralman

Michael Stone
Calvin De Haan
Ryan Murray
Robert Hagg
Jack Johnson
Zdeno Chara
Andy Green
Andrej Sekera
Kris Russell
Danny Dekeyser
Dennis Cholowski

If we move on from Holl, I like Stralman as a stabilizing force. He's shown he can log heavy minutes which makes me feel he'd be a great bottom pair add. I don't mind the likes of Subban or Stone in that role either.

As for forwards although I do think we're done. I wouldn't mind adding another forward who could chip in.. Allowing Kampf to be on the shutdown line and this forward to add some scoring. A guy like Gagner or Brassard wouldn't be awful at league minimum as they can play in the middle or on the wing while adding a scoring touch. I like Dahlen and Milano as boom bust guys to give a shot at. Milano has great speed and skill but lacks the IQ. Dahlen looked good in his stint with San Jose.

Knies estimates a playoff time addition. He looks big, but half that development camp are 5'9"

so far...this off season..

Matt Murray. ↘️----------------Jack Campbell.↗️
Saved some term on a Campbell contract. Downgrade based on recent performance. Risky gamble on Murray, but Campbell might have been a 5 year gamble. He hasn't shown consistent enough play to justify that term, but he a UFA...so good for him.💰

Samsonov ↘️-------------------------Petr Mrazek↗️ - Get younger and higher upside. Love the signing for the potential #1 instead of just a backup and support for Murray.🔝

Dennis Hildeby↘️- needed to get more young goalies in the pipeline. Closer to arrival than other younger drafted goalies.⏳

Calle Jarnkrok↘️---------------------Illya Mikheyev↗️. Mik scored 20 goals. Jarnok may get 15, will miss the speed and PK of Mikheyev (may make Kerfoot expendable allowing more cap room of a second line player.)⚖️

Adam Gaudette↘️------------------Kase or Spezza ↗️Guy twerks, but at his wedding...sorry Coach. massive downgrade on either of Kase or Spezza...speaks of needing opportunity...everyone wants to play on the top 2 lines. 🪦

Nicolas Aube-Kubel↘️---------------Blackwell↗️ - Similar players, Aube-Kubel is a great forechecker with Stanley Cup experience. Another good signing.:stanley:

Jordie Benn↘️-------------------Ilya Lyubushkin↗️- Jordie is a clearcut 7th D man. Boosh was polarizing it seems, I loved his hits long the wall, we need that physicality back there. Boosh could take a regular shift doing it, might have been better suited as a number 6, but we have lost something here, can't justify his new cap hit though. 💲

Victor Mete.↘️.........................Depth signing with some NHL experience. I get that, why him though? He can skate. No offence, little defense. Reclamation project?...🛠️.

Still to come Engvall? Sandin? Knies entry level. Along with Robertson, and some other Marlies on the cusp, there should be enough talent to stay about the same level. Goaltending is the biggest question mark, we still have the same core, so it's just support pieces and I like Jarnok, Aube-Kabel signings up front. We signed Giordano so that is a good addition as well for a full season.

Sill waiting on Holl and Kerfoot decisions, trades could bring in some more support for the 2nd line.

We already replaced Kerfoot with Jarnkrok.

Holl doesn’t even need to be replaced. We have 6 defensemen better than him, and just signed two solid call-ups.

I think if we trade Holl before signing Sandin, Sandin's negotiating power will increase. I trade Kerfoot first for cap room, sign Sandin, then trade Holl. Also trade Sandin if he doesn't want to play RD until a vacancy occurs on LD.

Any way we could get Bunting extended this summer?

8 years 4M type deal where the last 4 years are very few real dollars letting us trade him pretty easily?

He'll likely be looking at 5.5-6.5M if he replicates his scoring next year. Best to be proactive and work out an extension with him early rather than own rental him
Mike Loves playing for the Leafs and being Lined up with Matthews and Marner. I see him taking a max term deal at like 3.75 x 8 or 4 x 7 close to what you suggest. He wants to be here long term for sure.

There is no way thats our 4th line on opening night. I expect a Marlie to be there. Moves are comng now I wonder if there are multiple trades

Engvall deal is fair just wish it was another year

Is Engvall a ufa after this?

B offseason for Dubas not factoring Sandin

Teams similar to PY with maybe a slgith downgrade at offense but hopefully more stable G

Really comes down to if the team can clamp up in game 6 or 7 and get the W

Well he top 3 in the Atlantic and top 7 in the NHL in the reg season for sure

Not sure locking down Engvall with more term would be smart considering Robertson Knies and maybe even Abruzesse are all gonna be coming on LW.

They kind of made a mess of what the lines realistically could be.

Bunting - Matthews - Marner
Anderson - Tavares - Nylander
Kerfoot - Jarnkrok - Malgin
Engvall - Kampf - Aube-Kubel

Uses the exact same names, except Anderson over Gaudette for the exact same money, but the lineup configuration makes a lot more sense.

No way Anderson is in the top 6 lol

Put whichever two names you like best out of Robertson, Abruzzese, Holmberg, Steeves, Anderson, Malgin, Gaudette in those bolded slots and it works out the same. And then add in any other <$1m cheapo UFAs we might pick up.

Of course, we're going to need trades either way.

I think Jarnkrok is more of a Mikheyev replacement. I don't think we can expect 50 points from Jarnkrok like we do from Kerfoot.

He should be. We don't have a better fit for that line in our organization right now besides Knies.

Hyman also made the same jump to the top 6 at the same age, and Anderson is coming off of a much better season in the AHL (26 goals, 42 points in 56 games vs. Hyman's 15 goals, 37 points in 59 games playing with a much better Marlies team).
