Horton wants to play in a non-hockey market. Somewhere more quiet than Boston. Somewhere like Miami-Ft.Lauderdale where played for the Panthers. Horton is visiting a team today.

Columbus wants to add more offense.

I really like their forward core with the addition of Horton.

A lot of depth lines 1-4 that can be their best line on any given day.

So, unless people grow into roles or new players acquired, we could end up with a similar situation to what we had the last two years, and that is not good: two top lines and two 4th lines. As I've said before, finding legit. third line players almost seems more difficult that finding first liners.

Your post is 100% accurate, as far as I'm concerned. And that last line seems to be very, very true. Especially this offseason, where every available 3rd line option is one-dimensional and inconsistent.

Lindberg and Miller seem suited to that. For that matter, so does Danny Kristo. But are these NHL players? Only time will tell.

Richards needs to be with Hagelin and Callahan. He was good with those two.

Leave the skilled wingers for the centers who are competent. Kreider was at his best with Stepan. Every time they are together they do something. Brassard and Zuccarello were a match.

People who haven't seen them play will have their eyes opened when they play the Rangers this season. Big, physical, in your face team. I hope the Rangers are able to withstand the punishment because teams like Philly, Pittsburgh, NYI and Columbus are all very big, gritty teams.

Philly has Simmonds, Rinaldo, Hartnell, Schenn, Coburn, Grossman

Pitt has Kunitz, Glass, Engelland

CLB has Dubi, Umberger, Foligno, Boll, Prout

NYI has Boulton, Carkner, Martin, Clutterbuck.

The Rangers have Dorsett and Asham. Looking good.

People who haven't seen them play will have their eyes opened when they play the Rangers this season. Big, physical, in your face team. The guys I mentioned are gritty and can drop the gloves. Callahan is gritty. I guess I should have included Boyle who has shown a willingness to stand-up for his teammates.

Philly's size hasn't stopped us from kicking their ass in recent history. Just saying.

I think there are much bigger problems skill-wise than grittiness factor. I believe this team is one of the grittiest out there as evident by their hit totals.

I think the Rangers are a physical team from watching the games. That hinders their transition game severely.

I do not. I also think there hit totals are inflated because they never had the puck and consistently played a dump and chase game.

Outside of NJ, the Rangers last year, were probably the softest team in the division.

Fantastic point, a perfect example of where stats can fall short and the eye test is more important.

That's exactly the problem. I think they need more skilled guys that can control play rather than more cokemachines that do nothing but hitting. Playing gritty is very overrated trait and the Rangers have plenty of individual gritty players on offense and defense. The Chicago Blackhawks were by far the least physical team in the league last season.

The Chicago Blackhawks were by far the least physical team in the league last season.

The Rangers were certainly gritty, but would you call them intimidating? I think that's the point Boyler/Viper was trying to make.
