Sakic turned down Hamonic, prospect + 1st when that was one of the more valid trade options for them in a thinning trade market. It's going to take Skjei + Hayes + 1st to get Duchene.

What if Skjei is on the block now that we have Shatty? I don't think I'd sign off on that, but I wouldn't riot either.

We do need a center though. I don't think Duchene is that much better than Stepan, but if his price falls far enough I have to kick the tires.

look at Skjeis out put last year... and hes most likely going to have a better partner and more minutes. He's already a top 4 guy. He's untouchable mainly because his value to us is so much higher than his value to another team.

There is nobody I would trade Skjei for. We wouldn't get any of the elite young centers like McDavid, Draisaitl, Scheifele, Eichel, Barkov, Matthews, etc. and I'm not trading Skjei for anything less like MacKinnon or Reinhart.

An idea I have been kicking around, maybe trading Graves for a similar potential forward that can play C or wing

Also Shatty signing all but confirms Holden is gone. And I would have to imagine that if Bereglazov, DeAngelo and Pionk light up camp, Gorton will do everything possible to move Staal

They have a bunch of young D men they can dangle out there and see who bites. If I could bet, I would bet some D men + a player goes for an impact player. That is just my guess and it's been my guess once Stepan was traded.
 
Not surprisingly Shatty said there was more money with more term he turned down.

His dream has always been to play for the Rangers...been a fan since he was a kid

He wouldn't have been able to live with himself had he passed this up.

Felt alot of stress and pressure this entire week however when it came down to it, it was not the money that made this decision. It was all the other stuff.

Pretty much the nuts and bolts of the interview.

Shatty looked really pumped as well in the interview.

Man, what an unreal signing. Might be one of the largest home town discounts ever given in FA history seeing I can't recall anything like this to any player in the last decade...that's for sure.

Great day here in Ranger world. And now I can go play some golf...woo hoo.....Shatty getting signed and 18 holes...don't get better than that...:)
 
Does anyone think Rangers could use Deangelo in a move for a center now?

maybe F + Deangelo mid pick or something?
