Gorton is putting his stamp on this team by shooting two Sather bad habits in the head. Two 1st round picks plus this year plus we under paid the #1 free agent.

So Klein retires and Holden gets dealt. Then Marleau and Thornton take sweetheart two-year deals to play in NY? Maybe this was holding up the San Jose duo. They wanted to see how serious the Rangers were about winning?

Please go get Duchene... overpay if needed... give up quantity..

Hayes, Graves/Day, +another prospect + mid pick + conditional pick ( based on re-signing )

Brenden Smith + Kevin Shattenkirk + free lamborghini = Staal + Girardi.

Now we just have to buy out Staal next summer.

I really like that we are only giving out 4 year deals. I really think more teams in the NHL should start limiting their deals to 5 years and aim for more 4 year deals. These 6-7 year deals are just too long in my opinion.

I don't agree with this at all. I'd much prefer they save assets and try to grab Marleau or Jumbo.

This is what I've been thinking. Bring in Tornton and Marleau on short deals to act as placeholders and a safety net at center. They can still chase the Cup. In the meantime, keep adding younger assets to rebuild the farm. IOW, "rebuild on the fly."

EDIT: Consider this post irrelevant.

Some people say that we are out on Joe T but we still should have 4 mill in cap room plus the possibility of a Nash trade. Bring on Tyler Seguin, lol :D

I thought I read Marleau is not leaving California.

Joe Thornton is 38 coming off of major knee surgery...

I'd prefer speed down the middle.

Kevin Weekes likely had his information from the Rangers organization. We can guess that the counter from the Shattenkirk camp was $6.9M for 4 years but it took another 2 hours for Gorton to work the deal down to the $6.65M he wanted.

Way to **** on your top rated free agent now that he is not going to a canadian team :shakehead
