There is a rumor that Ericksson wants a 6 year deal. Heard this by word of mouth from a friend, so who knows if it is true. If it is, then The Blues should stay away

I think that's what really nixed the TDL deal. We heard Armstrong talked to his agent then absolutely nothing after that. Like the player but not worth the investment long term. I feel the same with Backes and Brouwer. Army only locking Stastny up till 32 and reluctant to give Backes more then 3yrs (my guess) shows he's not willing to pay for players into their twilight years.

Just read the same thing, that talks with BOS are stuck on term because BOS only wants to go 4 years.

If you have to take one, do you sign Boedker or Brouwer, lets say contracts are equal.

I'd prefer Boedker if the top options go elsewhere, assuming it isn't a stupid cap hit.

Boedker. Brouwer was a nice suprise out of the trade but he's about to get overpaid and the Blues need to shift from the grind them down mentality

Bødker, but the it creates the LW issue again.

I'm hoping we get Okposo, as unrealistic as that is. Armstrong doesn't overpay in UFA, so I'm not worried about the contracts we could give out.

I'm not gonna lie. This team without backes is concerning me.

Wish I had an ear in the locker room to know just who is most important to make things tick. If it's just steen and Petro then losing backes and Brouwer doesn't hurt.

If backes is the main voice of reason and motivation we need to resign him at all costs. Intangibles are real.

I think the Blues would have a grasp on something like that if it were a big factor.

I've never thought one guy's leadership should be all that important. Every team should have multiple guys willing to step up and be the voice at any time, because your captain could get injured.

Pietrangelo and Steen should be those guys. Stastny should now be a guy like that too. Schwartz and Tarasenko need to be leaders now, it's time. Upshall and Brodziak provide it. And, we are going to bring in a couple veterans too. They really should be fine.

I have a feeling that both Backes and Brouwer will be gone. I just see both getting overpaid on the market.

Listening to JR on the radio, he said he actually thinks something could happen with the Blues and Andrew Ladd. I would be very pleased with that.

I can't imagine the panic if the Blues strike out on all of Backes, Brouwer, Ladd, Eriksson, Okposo and Boedker.

They've gotta get one lol. Pretty huge day for the Blues tomorrow.

I can't ever remember free agency being this huge for the Blues, aside from maybe 2014 but bringing Stastny home was pretty easy.

I want nothing to do with Ladd. We have 3 LW that are better. Even if Steen is C, he'd be our 3rd line LW.
Eriksson also shoots left. Even if he plays the right side, doesn't really matter. Whether it's Ladd, Fabbri or Steen - one of them will move to center and maybe one to the right side.

The Blues need a top 6 talent. Ladd, Eriksson and Okposo are probably the best options available.

Same goes for Rick Nash or JVR in a trade. If it comes down to that and they're the best offer...then you take it and switch the lineup around to fit guys in. The Blues just need some scoring if Backes and Brouwer walk and they might not be able to be too picky.

I think Backes returns. Thats my hope, cause he is one of my favorite players. Like Stamkos, I'm praying he takes the required paycut to remain in St. Louis.
It isn't exclusively Ladd being a LW as it is that I find he isn't a very good player. I'd rather sign Eriksson, Okposo, before Ladd. Though I'd take Ladd over Boedker.

Maybe for 3 or 4 years, but if it's any more than that then I honestly hope we get a different player and I feel all the others will be more effective for a longer period of time.

Oh if he wants more years, then look elsewhere. Out of all, Okposo at 6M for 7 years might be our best bet. I hate giving a 28 year old PWF a 7 year contract but he is the best available.

Yeah, I'd be fine with that. Tomorrow will be very interesting.
