Assuming Golobef and Savard are re-signed...

James Wisniewski ($5.500m) / Fedor Tyutin ($4.500m)
Jack Johnson ($4.357m) / Dalton Prout ($0.667m)
Nikita Nikitin ($2.150m) / Ryan Murray ($3,494m)
7. Tim Erixon ($1.750m)
8. Golobef
9. Melart
10. Savard

We are counting on 4 unproven or fairly unproven defensemen in our top 7 if we were to trade Nikitin though. I just don't think we are in a position to trade a proven defensemen right now.

The TSN reporters can really suck it....they obviously know nothing about Columbus.

Edit...so they say we are the woods and all good hockey players should play in big markets, and that we have no one for Horton to play with...

Gaborik begs to differ.

To quote Myself:

And none of those people have set foot in the city, have any credibility in the NHL, or TSN for that matter. Look, they're in the dark part of the section and are talked to once every 2 hours. **** all of them

Simmons has gotten some pleasant tweets from me.

TSN reporters are mad that the Leafs got Clarkson instead of Horton for the same price.

Ask yourself though, do you really feel that Nikitin is going to be more reliable than Murray, Prout, Erixon and Goloubef? That's what always turns me around, our old-D aren't necessarily more reliable than our young-D.

That isn't my point. Each player traded moves the next player up. IMO, you can't go into a season with 4 of your top 7 defensemen being that unproven.

With the moves recently, any guesses on our lineup for opening night?

Probably just like it did the final game of last season.

Foligno-Anisimov-Gaborik
Umberger-Johansen-Atkinson
Calvert-Letestu-Dubinsky
Comeau-MacKenzie-Boll
Prospal (yes I expect him to be back at a lesser salary. He may even be in the lineup if there is an illness or preseason injury)

Why did we have this most recent lockout again?

Why did we have this most recent lockout again?

So dumb owners could dump bad contracts to clear space for new ones?

I predict buyouts will be a regular feature of each new CBA.

Why did we have this most recent lockout again?

To prevent UFAs or RFAs getting more than 8yr deals.

To prevent cap circumvention.

Good players were always going to get paid. No matter what the CBA is.

Now instead of getting 13 yr deals to bring the cap down, they get only 8 max. and dollars will be higher ofc per year, so less cap space to sign other players. Or more money for owners as the split is 50/50 no matter how much is spend. And now they are more likely to finish those contracts instead of retire years early when the salary goes down and most of the money is already paid.

Top five #NHL cap payrolls (inc. bonuses): 1. PHI $68.1M 2. CBJ $66.3M 3. MIN $65.7M 4. DET $65.0M 5. SJS $64.4M

So called budget team is 2nd in the NHL in spending
