If RJ isn't relied on to be the top goal scorer on a team, we might end up being happy with him.

If he comes to camp in shape.
Given that that's how it's worked before...

And who would replace him? We already are counting on Prout and Murray to play well.

Erixon and Savard remain in the system, and there's any number of decent bottom-pairing guys out there to grab Just In Case.

"Counting on" Prout and Murray only comes up if we do move Nikitin. The top 4 is still JMFJ, Tyutin, Wiz, and Nikitin.

we can't afford RJ's contract after this year if we plan on re-signing Gabby or any of our other guys. Him and Tyutin having the biggest deals and are basically already have in-house replacements.

On D we could move Nikitin, Erixon (I like him a lot but I'd be willing to move him) and I know I'll take heat for this (I have before) but I'd move Murray. Having gotten Horton I'm probably less inclined to do this, but I'd still move him. We could still use more offense.

Flame away.

I'm a teeny *puts finger and thumb close together* concerned about this, but definitely so if someone's traded.

I was a big outspoken person when we took Murray, in a bad way, but even I wouldn't move him unless we are getting someone really really good.

Other than Murray for Aucoin same guys as last year. Why the worry? Unless the F's don't check all over the ice and Bob wakes up, no problem.

I think a veteran depth guy could (and probably should) be picked up in a month or so when the dust settles.

As for the other discussion going on ... I'm not holding my breath for a Vanek trade.

Appreciate the constructive criticism. How about you tell us how Zherdev would be our savior again.

How about you find one time where I ever said that? There is no logical reason to trade the top defensive prospect in the world who projects to be a franchise cornerstone at one of the most important positions. Especially while he is 20 years old. Still on and ETC and will be very cheap for years to come when we just spent big on forwards (Gabby, Horty)

For Vanek I'd give up some he's a beast and can score at a great rate.

And did I ever say I'd move him for just anyone? Did I? It's just a couple of posts up - I'll let you look.

I'd move him. But the deal has to be right and the player has to be right. If the deal isn't right and the player isn't right then I'm more than happy keeping him. I fully understand how good he is.
