I like the idea of signing Klingberg short term better than giving up assets for Weegar for 1 year then seeing him run off as a UFA.

A very short-term deal for Klingberg would be incredible.

Keep your assets. Focus on giving the long-term money to Zub. Give Sanderson a year to establish himself. Buy another season for JBD/Thomson.

Then, if you have to, you can make a big trade for a D next summer.

So Dorion is about to dump zaitsev, sign klingberg, trade for weegar, re-sign Norris, and hire alfredsson, all before his pizza is delivered.

God damn. What a guy.
If you never order pizza, you have all the time in the world to accomplish everything.

Galaxy brain Dorion.

I have to admit that I find the idea of Tanev compelling.

RHD, defensive defenceman, old but not too old, Calgary may be looking to shed assets.

The trade thread is full of the usual crap but in a vacuum he’s sort of the ideal guy to play with Chabot or Sanderson.

Unless the market has completely dried up for Klingberg I cant see him using his first chance as a UFA to sign a short term deal

Yeah, but Calgary's ownership will never let that franchise rebuild.

He could also be thinking his numbers are in the tank after playing in Bowness' system and a 1 year prove it type contract could be a springboard to a longer term deal next summer at a larger value
