Lundkvist has request a trade. I wonder if he could be a good target

That would be an exciting roll of the dice.
He could look pretty sweet rolling out beside Sanderson, a really nice complementary catalyst for this offence from the 2nd pair.
Sort of how I envisioned Brannstrom, he’s got a lot of hockey IQ from the videos I’ve seen.
I like JBD and Thomson, but Lundkvist I think has more flat out talent.

Imo at this point we're probably more likely to pick up a Dman off waivers than trade for one. See how this group looks in the pre season and go from there.
Yes, with camp starting in 10 days, it's looking like that is pretty likely now.

Offensive defenseman with a good shot. Has struggled a bit in his transition to a full time NHL roster position.

Might be a good gamble depending on what our scouts think of him and their assessment. I'd wonder how they evaluate him in comparison to our current group of Brannstrom, Thomson & JBD.

I was thinking the same thing but him being a RHD makes it a bit more interesting.
What do we have in the system for the left side ? Gets thin without Brannstrom. Kleven is the only other LD prospect coming in the next 2-3 years.

I think Brannstrom is going to have a good year. I’m told he added some good weight this summer and looks thicker. The org to their credit slow played him and I think he will be a regular in the lineup if we don’t make anymore big moves.

Well right now we have Holden taking that third pair role, I think it's a lot easier to find bottom pair LD than top 4 RHD though, we are absolutely set for top 4 LHD for the foreseeable future, we need someone in the pool to become a top 4 RHD, maybe two if we can't extend Zub.

And I agree about Brannstrom potentially having a good year, I'm a big supporter of his, but I see LD as a position of strength and RD as a question mark after this season.

I’m all for a Brannstrom Holden pairing along with Sanderson Haminic. I think that’s adequate /s

I don’t see much point in adding a 5’10 RHD with DJ as the coach, particularly when we already have Brann, Thomson and JBD in the same age range and with similar pedigree.

DJ also said that the plan is to play Chabot and Zub together so they can build pairing chemistry, other pairings depend on camp.

Good weight on Brannstrom. You had to figure he wasn't finished filling out. I think he did very well last year in the PP QB role and we might well see his offence take off with a PP 2 that can actually score

I think all the D will look better with a much deeper group of forwards.

We spent most of the year with essentially two 4th lines a 3rd a a first, now we can finally ice a full 12 forwards slotted correctly and that should take a lot of pressure off the d.

Key word = slotted. That applies on the D too

Such a different game when you play from you tips than your heels.
The individual effect on players with the overall dramatic improvement up front on the team this year is going to be fascinating.
Could unlock Brannstrom for example - up tempo fast transition team constantly attacking with speed seems like his kind of game. He could be a different player for us this year.

I really like Lundkvist, but this is my exact thought. If Brannstrom can't crack our squad, there's 0 chance that DJ will like Lundkvist's game.

I'd love to get Matt Kiersted off the Panthers. That guy was lights out for UND and stole some serious ice time from Sanderson and JBD when they were there. They just resigned him though so I doubt they would deal him right away

Brannstrom breaking out this year would be a huge difference maker for us. I still think he might put it all together. He had a good stretch or two last season.

I wonder if a Chychrun trade is dependent on a Zub extension?

Like, if we cannot extend Zub, or if he states he wants to test the free market, Dorion pulls the trigger to get Chychrun as a replacement?
