I'm guessing Pinto will earn some sweet bonus money too...Good point on the bonus overages. Totally forgot about those and was just looking at cap hits after filling out the roster.

No, there really wasn'tThere were quite a few available this summer and we missed out on all of them.
Hoping for Chychrun trade or Zub signingHearing something could be happening this evening or tomorrow.
Not a lot of details as my source is officially off the clock for the night. Will keep you guys updated if it’s anything major, but for now just think something small.

But I’m trying to think small, it just never works that way
Which of these is he an upgrade on?Does anyone think de Haan might be our backup plan if we don’t land Chychrun? He’s still un-signed and seems pretty serviceable as a stay at home D

Holden, Sanderson, Hamonic, and Zaitsev? How much is he an upgrade on those guys?
We don't need serviceable, we need a clear cut top 4 guy. We already have 7 D, plus JBD and Thomson as callups. de Haan doesn't really do much for us right now.Does anyone think de Haan might be our backup plan if we don’t land Chychrun? A clear cut top 4 guy that is a measureable upgrade on what we have likely isn't achievable. There are cap issues and assets going the other way to consider, along with contract durationWe don't need serviceable, we need a clear cut top 4 guy. I agree, I think Calgary is in a desperate mode of 'win now' despite having an objectively worse roster this season than last (and last year's team clearly wasn't good enough). Regardless, I think they intend to compete and will keep Weegar for sure.I think Weegar re-signs in Calgary. They're all in with that aging group.
I really dont think its that much worse. Weegar is a legit top pairing D man and will be the best D man on that team. Huberdeau is a better player than Tkachuk or Gaudreau. If they can flip one of their D man for another player or cap space to sign Kadri they're a better team. I think whats happened with Huberdeau is really going to light a fire in him. Gaudreau also isnt a guy you win with as your go to guy, Phil Kessel 2.0. This could really be a good thing for them at the end of the day.I agree, I think Calgary is in a desperate mode of 'win now' despite having an objectively worse roster this season than last (and last year's team clearly wasn't good enough). Our two best players could be paying off in the WJC …
Let’s wait until they are 22 or so to go all in.
He also wants to be here.... Just finishing building a home in Manotick. I just dont see the spot without dumping Zaitsev. Id be very happy if they could make that switch. He is solid.Does anyone think de Haan might be our backup plan if we don’t land Chychrun? He’s still un-signed and seems pretty serviceable as a stay at home D
Zaitsev at 4.5 and Zaitsev at 2 is still Zaitsev. The money doesn’t change the player. He’s stillNot to mention - Zaitsev is now a $2 million dman with his bonus paid…
He’s not as bad as most project him to be here…. Especially for $2 million.
Bonus is paid at 2.5 m its still a total of 4.5 m / year ... Should make it easier to move him... the receiving team gets a cost reductionZaitsev at 4.5 and Zaitsev at 2 is still Zaitsev. The money doesn’t change the player. He’s still
Not good enough.
Yeah, seems reasonable to think that some of the offers on the table (not just from the Sens) involve players in the WJC, and Arizona is watching the players closely in that event before pulling the trigger on the deal.I gotta think Formenton and/or someone from the WJC is in a deal (Jarventie?)
probably have to wait if this materializes.
That contract is gonna be ridiculous for a guy about to turn 32 and coming off a season putting up numbers he's never touched before.Kadri is an Islander. Can the East get any stronger geez
