Could be they see Mackey as competition for Jones/Robertson/Harpur

I'd say so. I'd want to make sure whoever gets the spot earns it. He has size and he has the potential to add a few points, looks like.

You never know who steps up in camp and then you have a really good problem.

I just see it as extra options. Helps Hartford in either case.


Also, with the Gustafsson signing, that's a ton of LD now and I'd assume it's his to lose, unless Drury has something else up his sleeve.

Drury should just pretend to not have cap space going forward even if they do, just to get players on bargain deals. Try this strategy going forward. Can’t hurt

I think it is fairly obvious that is going to happen. Gustafsson was PP1 for months in Washington under Laviolette this year,

On the second unit? Rielly is their top guy. Klingberg is not good at all. I'd rather have Gustafsson straight up. The guy has been a disaster defensively for years. Gustafsson has actually had quite strong defensive results the last 3 years.

outstanding seems like a pretty strong word. I dont think goalies will be getting much more than that moving forward. Its a high number.
