GDT: Free Agency Frenzy - 2023 (12pm EST)

Drury had a great day. This is the cap world. He didn’t overpay for a single one of his free agent signings. The Rangers needed depth. Drury signed depth. He added veterans that have had success in this league. No Ryan Carpenter’s. Just a tremendous job. Did we cover everything on the checklist? No we did not. But that is tough to do when you are shopping where we were today. He still covered a lot. As of today:

Panarin-Zib-Kakko
Lafreniere-Chytil-Wheeler
Kreider-Troch-Goodrow
Vesey-Bonino-Pitlick

Would love to see Drury deal Goodrow and spend that money on Tarasenko, sliding Wheeler down. Then sign Kane in December and slide Wheeler down again.

NO way we can replace Goodrow with Tank ($). Truth is we may need to part with Goodrow just to sign Miller and Laff. Trade Goodrow for whatever. Role with Othmann on the 3rd line and perhaps we could snag Kane in December.

If they were going to get rid of Goodrow it would have already happened. He could have been bought out yesterday. There is money to sign Miller and Laf. They will likely get 6.5 between them.

Chicago just signed Perry for 4mill. Relax, It's day 1 of free agency. Goodrow can be moved.

I think Cuylle makes this team and plays on the 4th line. Pitlick will likely be in Hartford.

I'm relaxed. If he gets traded great, if not I'm ok with it too. I just think he will be a Ranger when the season starts.

The Devils have been stockpiling draft picks forever. They have great contracts and plenty of cap. We have Shesterkin. Sure we might beat them in a best of 7. But if your honest with yourself their future looks pretty f'n good.

The Devils are good. They are better than the Rangers right now. They also did not “blow past everybody”

We have more than Shesterkin and lost a 7 game series in which we put up 5 goals on them 3 times. They are good but they are going to be a disappoinment this year when they are expected to win. You watch. They have problems on defense and in goal. They also don't have plenty of cap.

I didn't say they blew past anyone. That being said I think they made smart moves so far.
They ditched Graves who is low IQ. He'll be replaced by Hughes. Holtz will most likely replace Sharangovich. If he isn't ready they've got Toffoli who is no slouch. Hamilton, Nemec, Hughes, Severson, Siegenthaler, Marino, Bahl on D is a problem. Throw in a full season of Meier. I'd say if anyone is gonna blow past anyone it's the Devils, unfortunately.
