  • Xenforo Cloud will be upgrading us to version 2.3.5 on March 3rd at 12 AM GMT. This version has increased stability and fixes several bugs. We expect downtime for the duration of the update. The admin team will continue to work on existing issues, templates and upgrade all necessary available addons to minimize impact of this new version. Click Here for Updates
If JBD is back, we wouldn't have room for another D, unless we send down Kleven, who is our only waiver-exempt D.

I could see him possibly getting claimed if he was on a league-minimum deal. If he does get picked up, it will be a team with depth issues on D who just needs a bandaid.

With Cholowski also on waivers, I wonder if NYI and VAN are planning a swap once they both clear. Roy coached Barrie for a few years.

I haven't been paying attention - has JBD been taken off of LTIR?

We should send him down for an LTIR conditioning stint to help him get his game NHL ready after a long absense, as well as to avoid losing either him or Matinpalo while Norris and Pinto are still on the mend.

If he doesn't agree to the conditioning stint then just put him on waivers. I like JBD but he's the definition of a replacement-level D and Matinpalo has shown more promise and upside as a bottom pairing D.

Puckpedia still has him on LTIR, but I thought he was practicing in Chabot's spot yesterday

Matinpalo has posted pretty awful results since his recall. But he looks better than Bernard-Docker. He's bigger, he skates better, and he's just an all-around more athletic looking player. He's 26 years old and he's been playing pro for many years. I'm not sure there's a whole lot of untapped upside here.

Bernard-Docker is in a similar boat, except that we've seen plenty of him over the past few years so we can be more confident that he isn't good. Figure there's a good chance that he's playing for some team's AHL club next season on a two-way.

So just pick one and waive the other.

If we know it won't work long term, then moving him to STL before his NMC kicks in would be better. Maybe Matthew goes back to STL when his deal is up instead of the other way around, getting them both out of our division.

Tkachuk + Norris + Perron -> Schenn + Kyrou + Neighbours

Would clear a few potential issues for the future and give us a bit of cap space for the summer. Would have to balance it out for both sides, but there's been lots of talk around Schenn and Ottawa. STL would probably want to make Brady the C, so Schenn may want a change rather than take an A.

We have one of the best players in the world in Brady Tkachuk & some people who call themselves fans of the Sens want to get rid of him, it makes no sense.

I don’t think anyone *wants* to move Brady. It’s being discussed because someone could very well whisper in his ear “Hey… if you played in a major American market you could become the face of the league so maybe ask out of that small Canadian city…”

I don’t think he’ll do that. But the attention he’s getting right now has got to be intoxicating.

That doesn’t happen here when you get the 4pm time slot on Saturday because the Leafs are playing the Wild at 7.

Except matinpalo has been quite good?

I was told AAV of 4.5 but that is always a little dicey with it not being official yet.

Probably like 5M in Y1 and 4M in Y2.

Sens aren’t going to spend to the cap right away next year anyways.
Thanks for the info benji. Sounds good to me.

4.5 is what I was expecting leading into the year, but it is a bit concerning that he's on pace for under 40 pts edit: I'm dumb....

So is their plan to do nothing this summer? Or shed some salary?

Thanks for the info!

I wouldn’t get so hung up on point production. He’s such an important piece on this roster
Well, the bigger concern is the reality that he is aging, and his on ice impact is on the decline despite getting PP time and top 6 mins. I want to keep him around, and I'm ok with 4.5 for him, I'd love for him to retire a Sen, but we need to be honest about what he can provide for that money, because if we expect top 6 production from him, we might end up being disappointed.
