20. Lawson Crouse
Left Wing, Utah Hockey Club
Age: 27
Stats: 55 GP, 8 G, 4 A, 12 Pts
Contract: 2 years remaining, $4.3 million AAV
Scoop: It’s been a grind in Salt Lake City for Crouse, who has struggled mightily all season, finally resulting in a healthy scratch on Feb. 4. Ouch. It’s hard to pinpoint why Crouse – who has played all of his 550+ career games with the Arizona/Utah crew – hasn’t been able to make the adjustment. He posted three consecutive 20+ goal seasons and seemed to be effectively leveraging his 6-foot-4 frame. Utah is aggressive under Bill Armstrong, so expect them to explore all options.

Damn, he really is struggling.

We can fix him. And he us.

Imagine trading Necas, Drury, 2nd and 4th round picks for 3 months of Rantanen.

“We were going to lose Necas in 1.5 years anyways”

So? This is the best you got for him? 3 months of a worse player who doesn’t even want to stay in your bumhole city?

Yikes.
We'll give them Colton for free as a consolation gift when Rants comes crawling back to us.

You don't even know what they are going to get back for Rantanen, should they trade him

2. Brandon Tanev
Left Wing, Seattle Kraken
Age: 33
Stats: 55 GP, 9 G, 8 A, 17 Pts
Contract: Pending UFA, $3.5 million AAV
Scoop: Speed kills and even at 33, Tanev still has it. He’s a fierce forechecker with speed and competitive juice that teams crave. That makes him an ideal trade deadline target once the Kraken begin to make decisions, but nothing is imminent quite yet.

I mentioned it a few days ago, but Tanev would be a great addition if you could dump Colton and/or Wood.

Who would be trading for Rantanen? Likely a team that’s trying to win.

What teams that are trying to win are going to give up pieces that allow the Hurricanes to continue to compete this year?
If the Canes really want to compete this year, they are not trading away Rantanen regardless.

Well that’s the point.

So they trade for Rantanen with no extension which is a downright win now move, then turn around and sell as a win later move?
Because if they sell, it’s to recoup assets.

Maybe there’s some fantasy move that allows Carolina to trade Rantanen away and get a deal back like Colorado, I just think it’s extremely unlikely.

It really depends, has he slowed down? If so no, if he's just not producing then that's a different story.

It looks like both his shot volume and his shooting percentage is down. 82% range for shots on goal to 64% this year, and a drop from 13% to 9% in shooting percentage. Skating looks pretty much the same.

What time is your alarm set to?

You keep saying this as if him not extending in 1.5 years means his value is low.
Who cares whether he was going to sign in Carolina or not? He’s still an extremely valuable piece to a bunch of other teams

Mikko will definitely get a high futures return still. I don't think they're replicating our trade if its obvious he's decided he's going to market.

That trade is going to be hard to replicate regardless.

Yeah, but CMac's phone should go beep beep beep when his agent calls from now until the two giant orifices on this team are plugged.

If we make it to March 8th and they aren't the line should be no longer in service.
Unfortunately, his phone can no longer go beep, beep, beep... he had to turn the damn thing to silent mode since he got Necas.

Mikko won't quit texting and calling him from burner accounts questioning his lineage.

I don't sub anymore. Who wrote it? Are there actually any legit rumors linking specific teams in it, or is it speculation?
My subby just expired last week but as far as I know, they were relying on Jesse Granger to cover the Avs point of view on their league round articles. They haven't had an Av's specific article since Baugh left for New York. Maybe PL wrote an Avs specific piece, but most of his articles are still very much a round-robin dump of bits from around the league rather than centered on a specific team.

I won't quote the entire article and the reasons they give for each team, but this is who they speculated on being in or out on Jones.
Allow me to question the quality of the article.

For instance, I very much doubt that Jones - even though he wants to win - is waving his no-move so he can go to Winnipeg. Calgary isn't a Seth Jones away from being a contender either.

Also, in the 'maybe' category - I cannot see him accepting to go back to Columbus - why not just stay in Chicago.

A really well thought out article. :sarcasm:

Ah what people won't do for clicks.

I'd talk to Armstrong and see what he was willing to eat in terms of salary. If Colton is going to remain a bottom six winger for us making 4M, I'd almost be willing to see if we could make something happen here. I've liked Crouse's play in the past, he's a year younger than Ross, signed for the same term but does cost 500K more per season. I would think other picks/pieces and/or retention would be involved to even things out, but I'm not apposed to the general concept of a swap around those two. That being said, there were rumors which suggested there are teams that actually like Ross. Depending on the validity of those comments, it may well be that Ross could serve us better in a completely different deal.

You shouldn't base your assumption that only a contending team might take a flyer on getting Mikko.

Why? He seems to be getting a charge out of you. :sarcasm:

Way earlier than I'd like today lol. 730am
Dude...the last time I slept until 730am... I honestly do not remember. However, I sometimes take naps by 10am.

I think you'd have to do a three team trade with NJ getting Colton, us getting Crouse and NJ sending someone to Seattle Utah. I don't know if NJ has been able to bank cap space though. They were up against the cap irrc.

Until the offseason Colton controls his destiny. Now if Landeskog doesn't end up returning. They 100% need to go get Crouse in the offseason IMO.

It would be nice to do it in season though obviously.

We 100% need three wingers of that type. Only having one healthy since the cup for most games has been a death nail.

Yeah, they obviously completely glossed over his NMC to add more teams.
