That or wait a year, and keep on the NHL, so they get the same as NJ got, pick moved to last in the first round. Why trade the 2025 1st? Forfeit it.
they said no, because it wasn’t the Sens pick.I can't see us waiting to give up the pick if we were apparently willing to give the league the Boston pick last year, and the league said no.
Ott has a lot of LWs I doubt they need any more, they could use another RW or two. What are they going to do with all these LWs Perron, Highmore, Gregor, Cousins & Ostapchuk & a few more in Belleville who have already played in Ott?Clock ticking on Ottawa Senators with NHL trade deadline set for March 7

Perron is right, says he always plays right side and prefers it.Ott has a lot of LWs I doubt they need any more, they could use another RW or two. What are they going to do with all these LWs Perron, Highmore, Gregor, Cousins & Ostapchuk & a few more in Belleville who have already played in Ott?
also a rhs. But anyways I'd trade the first this year for a player like Bjorkstrand or Rakell if they take Perron. We take the risk next season assuming we've improved a lot overall as a team especially if we upgrade in free agency.Perron is left, but says he always plays right side and prefers it.
Thanks, lol, not sure why I typed left, as the only reason I replied was because he’s righty, fixed.also a rhs. 100% was relevant lol, here is what I quoted from you, and told you they said no because it wasn’t a Sens pick. That isn't relevant to the post.
He's just pointing out that they are willing to give up a later pick rather than wait it out. If this years pick is late they've already shown that they are willing to give it up rather than wait by offering the Boston pick last year, even though it was obviously turned down by the league.100% was relevant lol, here is what I quoted from you, and told you they said no because it wasn’t a Sens pick.

Fine, I was just pointing out why the league said no, to doing it.He's just pointing out that they are willing to give up a later pick rather than wait it out. Tanev makes $3.5M and is UFA in the off-season.I can't see us waiting to give up the pick if we were apparently willing to give the league the Boston pick last year, and the league said no. That points to us valuing the cost certainty of giving up a late pick, even if we give it up earlier.
While I'd love to believe that we are the team that we have been for most of the last 30 or so games - there is so much parity in the league, and a lot of volatility with where teams finish year-to-year. I don't like the idea of using this year's pick on a trade or to select a player, and potentially giving up a top 16 lottery pick.
A name like Tanev or Donato makes sense, because those are players who won't cost a lot to acquire as rentals. Maybe a 2nd round pick. Tanev probably costs more then Donato, since most teams will want physicality for the playoffs.

Agree, if Sens are giving up a pick for a player, it shouldn’t be anything more than one of their 3 thirds.Does that make sense?
We may make the playoffs but are we a legit contender that is a Tanev/Donato away from being put over the top?
Why are we buying-high on a rental with a high pick that will only make a marginal difference when we have a bad prospect pool and few quality picks in the next couple years?
Cost will be a factor. Perron costs $4M whereas the others earn about $1M.Ott has a lot of LWs I doubt they need any more, they could use another RW or two. What are they going to do with all these LWs Perron, Highmore, Gregor, Cousins & Ostapchuk & a few more in Belleville who have already played in Ott?
I agree, but how are you going to get rid of Perron & his contract ($4 mil) at his age & after such a poor yr given his circumstances? IMO all the UFAs should probably walk with the exception of Giroux who I would re-sign at a cheaper salary. I would also get rid of a few RFAs including Gregor.Cost will be a factor. Perron costs $4M whereas the others earn about $1M.
I doubt that Highmore and Gregor will be signed again.
Cousins if he heals well and Ostapchuk will likely earn another contract.
