Don't love that trade for Dallas

Granlund isn't exactly the kind of player who typically excels come playoff time. More of a regular season scorer and I question whether he'll put up the same kind of numbers in Dallas battling for offensive opportunity.

And Ceci is a bottom pairing guy. He'll probably knock Dumba out of the lineup, but won't make much of a difference.

Would have expected SJ to have to take on Dumba to get a 1st for Granlund and Ceci.

Bruce says we’re interested in Ryan Donato and Brandon Tanev.
Brandon Tanev heard the news he might be on the move

Then found out it could be to Ottawa (his favourite Canadian city)

I can't see us waiting to give up the pick if we were apparently willing to give the league the Boston pick last year, and the league said no. That points to us valuing the cost certainty of giving up a late pick, even if we give it up earlier.

While I'd love to believe that we are the team that we have been for most of the last 30 or so games - there is so much parity in the league, and a lot of volatility with where teams finish year-to-year. I don't like the idea of using this year's pick on a trade or to select a player, and potentially giving up a top 16 lottery pick.

A name like Tanev or Donato makes sense, because those are players who won't cost a lot to acquire as rentals. Maybe a 2nd round pick. Tanev probably costs more then Donato, since most teams will want physicality for the playoffs.

Why trade the 2025 1st? Forfeit it.
That or wait a year, and keep on the NHL, so they get the same as NJ got, pick moved to last in the first round.

they said no, because it wasn’t the Sens pick.

Ott has a lot of LWs I doubt they need any more, they could use another RW or two. What are they going to do with all these LWs Perron, Highmore, Gregor, Cousins & Ostapchuk & a few more in Belleville who have already played in Ott?
Perron is right, says he always plays right side and prefers it.

also a rhs. But anyways I'd trade the first this year for a player like Bjorkstrand or Rakell if they take Perron. We take the risk next season assuming we've improved a lot overall as a team especially if we upgrade in free agency.
Thanks, lol, not sure why I typed left, as the only reason I replied was because he’s righty, fixed.

Ugh I'd rather we not acquire a forward for the sake of it.

We need a top 6 scorer, not a guy like Tanev, and Donato is basically a rich man's version Gaudette.

The seems to be both a weak draft class and a sellers market. Wouldn't surprise me if both Tanev and Donato return 2nds.

We have a bad prospect pool, we have to give up a 1st this year or next, already traded next year's 2nd and gave away a 3rd and 4th in the offseason for no reason.

Hope Staios doesn't flush another pick down the toilet. Need to be smart with our asset management at this point.

Excellent names.

I feel very confident in our defense and goaltending.

Stutzle, Tkachuk, Norris, Batherson, Giroux are firm top 6s in this team's vision.

Ideally we get a Bjorkstrand/O'Reilly/etc but we dont have the assets.

But Donato/Tanev are hard-nosed players who will provide great depth and will play to the beat of this team. That's all we can ask for, they add added dimension needed of possession play in bottom 6 and hard-nosed style hockey.

I think we dangle a 3rd from next year and we'll be able to add a depth piece we will like.

That isn't relevant to the post.
100% was relevant lol, here is what I quoted from you, and told you they said no because it wasn’t a Sens pick.
