We have about 1 mil in cap space with everyone healthy and an 22 man roster, not taking into account any additional room we got from accumulating since that would be negligible due to the amount of time we were getting LTIR relief.
So, lets say JBD is traded (I suppose LTIR is also an option) and we send Ostapchuk or Gaudette down once everyone is healthy to bring us to a 20 man roster:
Tkachuk-Stu-Giroux
Greig-Pinto-Bath
Cousins-Norris-Perron
Gregor-Ostap/Gaud-Amadio
Sandy-Zub
Chabot-Jens
Kleven-Hammer
Ullmark
Forsberg
That leaves us with ~2.6 mil in space to add a 21st roster player
If we move out a player, be it Amadio, Cousins, or Ostapchuk it opens more space, lets assume Ostapchuk/Gaud is sent down, which would bring us to ~3.375 as a max for our target(s).
If we were to send out Forsberg in a trade with nothing coming back that would go up to ~5.3
Thanks.
That doesn't leave a lot of cap space. I could certainly see Forsberg as a player to be shipped out if they look to acquire a bigger contract.
With such little cap space that would essentially leave Pat Maroon, Craig Smith, Brett Leason and Mathieu Olivier from my list as trade options.
I guess there is also a chance that teams are willing to retain salary. They are only allowed three retainment slots per year correct? That would make it challenging for any player that isn't on an expiring contract. Brandon Tanev could still be an option then.
Alex Tuch, Anders Lee, Nick Foligno, Michael Bunting and Boone Jenner are forwards with only 1 year left and Jacob Trouba, Radko Gudas, Luke Schenn amie Oleksiak and Erik Gudbranson are d men with only 1 year left. Some of those teams might have a retainment slot available and there is also the option to involve a third team if they are willing to use one of their retainment slots as well.
The issue is probably the cap space though..
Here are the cap hits for the second list of players:
Alex Tuch $4.75m, Anders Lee $7m, Nick Foligno $4.5m, Michael Bunting $4.5m, Boone Jenner $3.75m, Jacob Trouba $8m, Radko Gudas $4m, Luke Schenn $2.75m, Jamie Oleksiak $4.6m, Erik Gudbranson $4m
