Exactly what we need this offseason.

For this season it might be tough to grab a guy like that.

Looking around the league right now not a ton of guys that are available. Best case scenario you “help” maybe a top team “shed” some cap and get a decent player if they try to add a higher salary player at the deadline.

Otherwise guys like Bunting are probably on Staios’s radar, and on many other team’s radar, but he could make sense in terms of fit, salary and cost to acquire.

Have a feeling we’ll be going for a guy like Armia though. Good bottom 6 guy this year and has size and speed. Won’t cost too much to acquire, doesn’t cost too much as a player and Montreal could maybe retain a bit… we could keep him for next season as well.

I feel a very lowkey add coming our way. Probably one at F and one on D just to round things up and they’ll count on the core doing the damage.

Armia is a great target. Solid PK guy too.

Does this man Pittsburgh is going for a firesale?

Yes. They’re too far out and played more games.

I like the move for Vancouver. They trade Miller but if Chytil can stay healthy and now they finally round out their defense… I think they’ll be better now than they were before moving Miller. O’Connor is a good bottom 6 guy too.

It’s a lot to give for a pending UFA but have to imagine they’ll sign him.

Two teams making that call to step back so far.. Penguins and Flyers

Vancouver got a #2 d and 2 young top 9 talents for a guy that was killing their room.

they could have done a lot worse than that imo.

actually great trade

I’m not sure who you’re refering to by top 9, Chytil or O’Connor, but both are good players. O’Connor is the type of guy we should add, he’s a sneaky add in this deal. The Nucks had to pay but I like how the deal ends up looking like going from Miller, cap dumps, and Ferntrom to Pettersson, Chytil, Mancini and O’Connor.

It feels like they did the right thing here and extracted some good value for a player who was a problem and only wanted to go to NY.

Nucks biggest flaw was their defense so with Pettersson and Mancini added I suspect they will be a better team overall. Not sure I’d call him a #2 but he’s a legit top 4 guy that’s really good in transition and these guys are very valuable.

+ No more locker room feud

yea forgot they actually got two forwards in total which makes the trade even more beautiful.

agree about O'Connor, he's big fast and can score big goals by himself. prob will outplay a lot of the other forwards that are dealt this deadline.

3 potentially 4 core roster pieces for one malcontent.

The problem with how some people on HF judge trades is they ignore the fact that teams have numerous stakeholders that they have to satisfy.

Yes, they are probably better off in the long run holding on to that 1st, especially with the kind of disarray the Rangers are in - but the GMs job is to execute the wishes of ownership or top management. Additionally, they have a franchise player who after this season is 2 years away from UFA status (sound familiar?). Missing the playoffs this year and next year virtually guarantees that Quinn Hughes probably leaves or at the very least doesn't extend early.

The got back a top pairing D, an iffy top 9 center, a top 9 forward, and an NHL ready #7 defenseman. If they can re-sign Pettersson, that's a decent outcome.

People would be more accepting if they never owned the first, but instead of Pettersson being part of the Miller return, now it's like they gave up McKenna for him to some people. (Which knowing Pittsburgh's luck, is probably the case, but that's not the point.0

Not to mention, they dumped two 2Mx2Y contracts that weren't working.
