Don't think that's how conditioning stint's work Brucey

" The Commissioner may take whatever steps he deems necessary to investigate the circumstances under which a Player is Loaned on a Conditioning Loan. If the Commissioner has reason to believe or determines that the Club has used the Conditioning Loan to evade Waivers, or otherwise Circumvent any provision of this Agreement, he may take such disciplinary action against the Club, as he deems appropriate.."

Well, Bruce sent some pre-emptive red flags up to the league should the Sens decide to heed this call

Why on earth would Clb trade the 26 yr old RHD that came in immediately slotted into their top 4, coinciding with them going from a 70pts pace before acquiring him to being in a wild card spot and playing at a 100pts since acquiring him?
Should have stated if CBJ is no longer in the playoff hunt by then. CBJ is a weird team. Having subpar goaltending, but having ridiculously high shooting percentages across most players. Their metrics overall are not good.

If I was Columbus, or a team with cap space in the wild card race, I would claim Forsberg if the Senators waived him.

Not because I want him, but Ullmark is not guaranteed to be completely healthy, and the goalie depth is in shambles. You claim him to disrupt the Senators.

Unless we have a fantastic trade that requires Forsberg's cap space, waiving him at this point would be idiotic. They are better off going with 3 goalies in the short term, with Forsberg being the odd man out in terms of practice and keeping a rhythm, because he is only playing if we get injuries or Leevi loses his edge.

Islanders needs to f*** off and sell already, you aint doing shit with that shit roster and that boring style of hockey.

Palmieri or Nelson would be great here. Both UFAs.

I'd like to sign Drouin in the off-season.
Nice under the radar type move. We won’t be going big game hunting like Dorion.

We need to add a goalie not give one away.

Anyone on the Pens worth nabbing with these rumours of a fire sale not named EK?

Low key would love to have Sid come play in Canada to end his career out, but I know it's not a move we can afford to make. Perchance to dream

Honestly, he's not really a top-6 forward like we really need, but I feel like every time I watch Anthony Beauvillier in the playoffs, he scores big goals.

No one really.

We have no significant assets to trade and little cap space for next season.

Only guy who would make some sense would be Tomasino as a buy-low potential scoring alternative to Gaudette in the top 6, but we already missed the boat on that.

Bunting 100% but we would have to move cap

He fits in with how want to build the team

I'd avoid signing Drouin. He's having success in Colorado because of his friendship with MacKinnon but the dude couldn't handle the pressure in MTL and him coming to Ottawa might affect the mental side of his game. Even when playing with MacKinnon's wing, he only scored 53 points while MacKinnon score 140. Unless we're getting him for $2,5 million the way he signed for Ottawa, i'd pass.

If Pittsburgh is having a firesale, they have a ton of middle 6 wingers we could use. Any of Rickard, Rust, Acciari, Bunting, or even Beauvillier would work. If we want Rust, Rickard, or Bunting, we have to send Perron the other way for salary. Could acquire Acciari or Beaguvillier for a draft pick and JBD (a #6 RD that could play minutes whenever he's healthy in a year or so when Pittsburgh is into their rebuild).

Palmieri and Nelson would be great off season signings as long as they don't get too much term.

Some forwards that can help us with scoring that we should consider before the deadline.

  • Fabian Zetterland (SJS): Age 25, RFA, LW, 12G, 16A, 28Pts, No trade restrictions

Zetterlund would be such a homerun acquisition. He's the type of player the Sharks should try to extend long term for their rebuild as he cans till play with their core, but he'd be perfect for our window. Wonder if we'd have the assets to acquire him

It would be nice if we acquired a piece that we thought we might be a good long-term fit, because we aren't the most successful UFA destination, but we usually do okay with convincing players to stay once they are here.

If the cap does indeed go up to 97M+, we will have about 18M with 9 spots to fill and Giroux as our only significant free agent. I wouldn't say that is a lot of cap flexibility, but it is more than expected when the cap was projected to be in the low 90s. We might be able to make something work if we acquire a solid middle 6 forward or a #4-5 type D and they want to stay.

Pamieri has a 5 mil cap hit,
Nelson 6 mil
Granlund 5 mil
Tanev 3.5

That probably rules all of them out

Zetterland, Beauvillier, and Suter we can probably accommodate though.

Sens can’t make any of them work, because of the cap, but if run with 20 man roster when team healthy, could maybe get one the cheapest two.

That’s why teams should try and save 2 million in cap space for injuries or TDL deal.

Can we get Marchessault from Nashville ?

That contract looks like it might be rough in the last year or two. The only way it makes sense is if we still want to get rid of the Norris contract, and there isn't a legitimate market. So it's more like dumping the difference between Norris and Marchessault.

His cap hit is fine, but it's maybe 2 years too long.

He has a 15 team no-trade list. So there is a reasonable chance that he could block a trade to Ottawa.

unless we put some on LTIR, not sure if Perron, JBD would be options for this

Perron is already on LTIR and likely comes off soon,

We have enough LTIR room right now for Tanev, but that disappears as soon as Perron is added back to the roster.

JBD would make no significant impact via LTIR, he;s only earning 805k.
