I know Pagnotta is full of shit but Rasmus Andersson would completely transform this team. He would be expensive to acquire though and unfortunately Dumb Dumb Dorion cost us a first round pick because he didn't know how to read.
If we can't beat him it's our own fault
It means he instantly turns to prime '98 Hasek for one game right?Where's the GDT? Looks like Hogberg is starting tonight vs the Isles
And Leevi on the starter end at morning skateWhere's the GDT? Looks like Hogberg is starting tonight vs the Isles
What did the Islanders have, about 12 shots on net that game.I've wanted him forever.
I agree he'd transform this team completely.
Sanderson-Andersson
Chabot-Jensen
Kleven-xxxx
Ullmark
I think that back-end could be as good as any. I see Andersson having a Lindholm and Ekholm type resurrection here.
Truly. We lost against Isles last game cause of Sorokin's tremendous game. This increases our chances to be predicted to win.

This team does not need Brannstrom geez, why would they want a small soft defencemen who constantly gets owned in his own end. They are playing well they don't need him, they have plenty of better depth.
Hamonic will be gone at the end of the season & JBD led this team in blocked shots last season, he is much better defensively than Brannstrom who is extremely weak defensively & got owned many times. Brannstrom just went through waivers & not a single team out of 31 teams picked him up for a reason. He is also a left shot & sucked when put into the right spot.Hamonic is the type that constantly gets owned in his own end, not Brannstrom. Yes there’s physical play but there is a lot more than that in hockey. Puck recovery and puck movement is more important than physical play. You need the right mix of players.
Of course, if you have the luxury to have quick puck movers with size (Chabot, Sanderson) you go for them but these guys are expensive and don’t grow on trees. Sometimes you need a guy like Brannstrom for your 3rd pair, which complements a guy like Kleven much better than a Hamonic or even a JBD
That said, since Zub is back, and with Matinpalo and maybe even Guenette, I don’t think we need Brannstrom back much anymore.
I would want to add a Top-6 forward though
You're not crazy, just optimistic about him.I’m obviously crazy but I’d like to see Perron play before calling it a terrible signing. It’s not just you, it’s almost everyone judging the player without seeing him with this group.
Both confirmedAnd Leevi on the starter end at morning skate
Ya so would I. Seems like they need an offensive specialist to help make up for the lack of offense back there. Worth a try if he's interested.I'd take a chance on Klingberg. Relying on Hamonic and our AHL depth guys isn't the most sustainable.
Klingberg has declined though after some hip surgery, but hey a puck moving vet is a fair risk to take considering our injuries lol
Rasmus Andersson would be a godsend but can't imagine we have the assets to make it work.
signing klingberg to be a #7 wouldnt hurt, he either adds to the team or gets buriedI'd take a chance on Klingberg. Relying on Hamonic and our AHL depth guys isn't the most sustainable.

? He hasn't played since the surgery on his hipI'd take a chance on Klingberg. Relying on Hamonic and our AHL depth guys isn't the most sustainable.

The decline doesn't get any steeper then that...? He hasn't played since the surgery on his hip
Sorry meant to say, he's probably declined due to his surgery. Not that he was looking too good the season before it. Maybe he rebounds if he's healthy.? He hasn't played since the surgery on his hip
Could add another $0.750 from Forsberg to offer $8.25M or more if the salary cap goes up.I’m obviously crazy but I’d like to see Perron play before calling it a terrible signing. It’s not just you, it’s almost everyone judging the player without seeing him with this group.
lol. Boeser isn’t coming to Ottawa for 7.5M.
I’m not optimistic or pessimistic but I like to actually see the player for a bit before forming an opinion. His caphit is that of a middle 6 forward. You're not crazy, just optimistic about him.
I'd love to eat some crow regarding him but don't have faith in him producing like a top 6 forward relative to his caphit.
I'd prefer only one aging vet forward on the roster (Giroux).
Who knows though, maybe Perron comes clutch as we make our final push for the playoff spot.
Yikes. So you want to pay a 1 dimensional winger who has one season over 29 goals but Josh Norris, a 200 foot centre, is overpaid at 7.9M.Could add another $0.750 from Forsberg to offer $8.25M or more if the salary cap goes up.
Puts Ottawa over the cap for one, and after listening to 3 different Staois interviews yesterday, not seeing this move. Any trade for Ottawa is basically dollar for dollar now.
-Ville Husso (Waiver Exempt) @ 1.1875M
Why Ottawa Makes The Trade:
There are very few goalies available. It is a seller's market. Ottawa gets out of Sogaard's 1-way contract next year. They add a (temporarily) waiver exempt goalie to help the AHL team and act as an option to backup Merilainen in the NHL instead of Forsberg. For now, Husso can move up and down through the NHL and AHL, which would be an important aspect of this trade.
-Mads Sogaard
-Retention #1 on Husso
Why Detroit Makes The Trade:
Burying Husso costs Detroit 3.6M in dead cap. Retaining half on him only costs them 2.375M. So while they help a division rival, it is justified by gaining 1.375M that they can bank towards the trade deadline. Husso has not played well in the NHL this season and the Senators already have Merilainen playing well, so the downside for Detroit is not as much as you would think for helping a division rival.
They receive Sogaard, who at this point has very little value, but was once a high end goalie prospect. You could argue that taking Sogaard's 1-way deal next year is a consolation that Detroit has to make for Ottawa, considering Ottawa is taking 2.375M of Husso's contract from them (and then paying a third party to eat half of it).
-OTT 2027 4th Round Pick
-Retention #2 on Husso
Why Chicago Makes The Trade:
They get a 4th to retain 1.1875M. That is the standard price. I chose Chicago randomly. You can insert any rebuilding team that has retention spots if Chicago doesn't make sense.
Even if Sogaard looks terrible right now, I would not want to give Det a potential starter for the next decade. Send him somewhere else.

That’s why I’ve always said to keep around 2 million in cap space to start a season, allows for some injuries or possible moves.
