Perron is not getting traded

Pinto, Norris, Stutzle, Tkachuk, Batherson, Giroux, Amadio, Gregor, Cousins, Jensen, Chabot, Sanderson, Kleven are not getting traded either.

I think if we are looking at a trade these are the guys that could potentially go:

Artem Zub (In a trade including another RD)
JBD part of a deal for a better Dman.
Ridly Greig for a top 6 winger.
Zack Ostapchuk + for a top 6 winger.

I don’t see us depleting our picks more unless it’s 3rd rounders or later picks.

Not much to move at this stage. Best case scenario you move Zub as part of a package for a guy like Weegar or Andersson, or trade Zub to acquire the necessary assets to make a move for a guy like these guys.

Ostapchuk I feel like they’ll want to keep but it could happen for the right player.

Greig is so much better at center but we don’t have the space for him there. Don’t understand why he’s playing RW instead of LW. Anyways… he seems like the most likely candidate if we can get a legit top 6 F/ RD.

I feel like the move to make is to upgrade on Zub.
i feel like the team is going to view zub as a trade deadline acquisition. I can see zub being traded in the offseason

i do agree with the rest. Greig and ostapchuk are probably on the table for a top 6 winger.

In reality we either move jbd and a pick or a prospect for an upgrade (my preferred moved as it makes Hamonic the number 7) or the move is made for a different type of 3rd line tweener to try with timmy

Saw on the main trade board that Parssinen is most likely being made available by Nashville. His situation with the Predators sounds very similar to Fabbro and Tomasino recently, where they have a young player who has shown some promise and potential in the past but is not being given consistent playing opportunity by their coach.

Given how many significant futures we traded away in recent years, most notably with our DeBrincat and Chychrun ventures, this is the type of move that I would love to see us being interested in making. I assume that the cost would be similar to the Tomasino trade - likely around a 2026 5th or 2027 4th type of value.

It would give us a young asset (23 years old) that would not be expensive to acquire, easy to fit to our cap structure ($775k for this season then RFA), and who has shown that he can play a role in the middle six with decent production (produced at a 30-35 pts pace over his career so far). If my assumption is not far off on the acquisition cost, I'd love to see this kind of move to add depth while also adding an nhl calibre role player that fits with the timeline of our core. It would be low risk/medium reward IMO.
I’d wonder why he wasn’t getting ice time. I see he has 12 points in 44 games last year, and 5 points in 15 games this year. His 2022-23 (point) stats were better though (25 points, 45 games).

Other than what I see on Elite Prospects, I don’t have any other info (or viewings) though.

The idea of putting Parssinen with Stutzle seems potentially like a stretch.

Sure give him a shot with Stutzle. We should be trying to pick up any young NHL players for late round picks.
See below.

I'd offer Greig for Kakko. Could be a good guy low candidate.

But replacing Greig's golden trolling against Toronto won't be easy.

I don't think Kakko will get them a Greig like return. He is basically a rental because of arbitration. He is one of those players like Puljujarvi was where teams won't qualify him because on paper he has a good argument for an arbitration ruling that is above his real life market value.

His value is probably a 3rd round pick at this point. Look at a player like Lias Andersson going for a late 2nd without the cap hit and with multiple non-arb RFA years remaining.

I could see something like Boucher and a draft pick. I would guess either Forsberg or Amadio would have to be in the trade unless we have some indication that we will be able to remain in LTI all year.

Kakko is back to his .5 ppg pace of his seasons 2-4. I agree he's not worth Greig, but I think he's worth a shot if available for a reasonable price. He excels defensively, no?

I doubt the Rangers would be shopping a 23 year old forward in Kakko. Kreider and Zbad might be guys they'd move if the offer was right for them.

Reily Smith is another one. 3.75M pending UFA might make sense for the Sens to bolster their top 6.

I'd do that for Weegar in a heartbeat and throw in a + to get it done. His contract is in place and excellent value for now.
I'd do it for Weegar too, but I think he's one of the vets CGY will want to hold onto unless someone overpays. Dude has made it clear he wants to be a part of the solution in CGY and is sheltering their developing D.

Ya it does seem like he's not going anywhere. I'd hoped they might fall harder and that might drive him, but they've exceeded expectations. Tons of value having a guy like that through a rebuild obviously. With Andersson's contract coming due soon, it seems like Weegar is the more likely of the 2 to stay.

How much would you pay in a trade for that same player as a pending UFA rental who doesn't have the "2nd overall" 6 years ago tag attached to them.

He is providing some secondary scoring but isn't playing a big role for them.

I'll be shocked if they get more than a 3rd for him.

I wonder if Calgary reconsiders selling off their good players considering they seem to be ahead of schedule in their rebuild. Would certainly love either of Anderson or Weegar.
Calgary is hanging on to the final playoff spot for one reason, and that reason is Dustin Wolf. 23 years old and already giving them elite level goaltending. Why can't Ottawa draft a guy like that?

The rest of their team is not very impressive. I agree Andersson and Weegar are both really desirable players. I doubt Calgary will let either guy go.

Good question. I think it would be wise for them to continue to shed and aim to really stock up, especially with such desirable, and not just expiring assets like these guys, but there's more than one way to skin a cat and trading everyone isn't always wise as Ottawa saw first hand.

I think that's reasonable. I don't think he has a ton of value. I would take that shot as a Sens team.

We are winning because of Linus rn let's be honest
Even if he can be a Vezina goalie any night, that .963 average for the last 5 games is not sustainable
True but we also lost some games because he sucked at the start of the year. It all washes out in the end

He's too small for Sens scouts to pay attention to.

Either Weegar or Anderssen would be fantastic upgrades over Zub (who I still quite like). I can't see Cgy letting either go unless they get a really good return.

I just don't think we have the assets to make it happen, particularly with our 1st rd pick being forfeited in one of the next two drafts.

Man I friggin love Zub. Sucks so much that he's experiencing the health issues he has because he's played such a solid D game (that was sorely needed) the majority of his time here.

In the event that he's moved, going to suck to see an absolute warrior go.
