I just can’t see it from Sens value wise.

It’s another Turris trade, but Jiricek is probably the more valuable of the two.

Gave up a very highly thought of prospect (regardless of why he turned into) in Rundblad, and a 2nd.
Well staios does love Boone Jenner

I don't see Jiricek as a fit given (1) it's questionable whether he contribute right away and (2) they have a very similar prospect in Yakemchuk coming.

I'm sure they've inquired, because why not, but I doubt they're stepping up with the best offer.
I think the fit and timeline could work.

He could play bottom pairing this year (send JBD back in the trade or to minors). Neither of Zub or Jensen project to be here in 2 years imo.

It's difficult to say. Something like Greig and a 2nd doesn't sound that crazy given the position of weakness Columbus is dealing from. Almost like Gauthier only attracting Drysdale, who had some uncertainty due to injuries, and a 2nd round pick.

On top of that, the Senators 2nd currently projects to be similar in value to a late 1st. The way lists shake out at that point in the draft, Columbus might expect to get someone in their top 32 with it.

Greig+2nd probably gets laughed off the main board, but you never know with these kind of trades.

If Jenner is uninsured, that might be a smart way for the Senators to both get a discount, and add a veteran for next season without having to give up term like they did with Perron.

With the injuries we have, we are probably going to end up in LTIR eventually anyways so adding a 2nd LTIR contract won't make a difference for our calculations.

Something like Norris+2nd for Jiricek, but the Senators take both Jenner and Merzlikins and send Columbus Forsberg who is cheaper than Merzlikins and isn't tied to a bad long-term contract.

That makes Norris almost cash in/cash out for this season and the two after that.

Or something like Greig or Greig+draft pick for Jiricek, and the Sens simply take Jenner as a consolation to get a better deal on Jiricek. Dumping Jenner if he is uninsured is probably worth a high 2nd (look at Zaitsev to CHI, he had similar money+term). Jenner is out for the season, so we would place him and Zub on LTIR, and then hope Jenner can be healthy next year.

I hope if we're dealing with CBJ who is at the bottom of the cap floor, we don't have to worry about taking back equal salary from them, especially if we're moving a guy like Norris. It makes sense for some salary to come back (Jenner, Kuraly, Provorov, etc.,), but definitely don't want to take on Merzlikins who's overpaid and awful.

We probably need more of a two-way/defensive dman on the right side though if you factor in Yakemchuk. It’s sort of a redundant skill set to have both at the end of the day.

We could definitely use a top offensively skilled defenceman to spice up our ES attack and PP.
We also could definitely use a big, strong, physical defenceman to protect the front of our net.

We would have to trade Chabot to free up salary cap & budget dollars get the first one.

I also don't want to get any player over 30; we have enough ageing vets who are too slow!

I don't see similar to Yakemchuk as a downside, rather I see that as a positive.

If two years from now, we have this as our group, I really don't see a downside.

Sanderson-Jiricek
Chabot-Yakemchuk
Kleven-Zub?

I also don't see contributing right away as an issue, I think the goal is to hold the fort while Zub is out, so as long as he's an upgrade over one of Hamonic or JBD (preferably both) then it's a win.

The question I have is how much would it take to get him. I suspect we'd have to offer one of our centers, but which one...
- Norris has high risk due to contract and injury history, but is on pace 34 goals and 56 pts, that would be a big loss
- Pinto is having a rough go so far this year, but was looking like a legit top 6 center with a great 2-way game,
- Greig adds that grit and pest element, and was looking like a solid 3rd line center if he can shake off whatever is ailing him.

I honestly don’t see how our right side is going to be fixed, barring Yak being ready earlier than expected.

Zub is always hurt, Jensen is gonna be 35, JBD only plays sheltered minutes… I have no idea what they’re going to do next year other than hope it doesn’t all go wrong.

So if it's between Pinto (big right shot center) or Grieg ( asshole left shot center) which is it? Both can pk or 2nd pp. A tough desicion. Is Greig inder team control longer?

I just don't see the guy who traded Chychrun for Jensen going for that kind of top four. Could be wrong.

Interesting. I hadn’t heard that. Do you have a source? I’d like to catch up on that news.

Update - I see someone else asked this question. Oh well, no matter. Let’s just saying inquiring minds would like to know.
I responded. It was a guest on the radio. Maybe dreger or Johnson talking about players staios would like to bring in. It could have been speculation on the players based on that type. Jenner. Schenn and another name.

Now it’s rumoured we were trying to swap Norris with schenn

OK, thanks. So, it doesn’t sound like there’s any real info or insight on Green’s thinking.

If it's just someone speculating & offering hypotheticals, I guess I/we can just wait until something more tangible & concrete happens.

A trade will happen when it happens. None of the talking heads will know about it. It's the new way with this team.

Yeah, Greig + pick would be my preference for Jiricek as well.
