We can’t expect to only win when we have a full healthy lineup though. Every team deals with injury and can still win with some of their regulars out. We need to find ways to win even with injuries. When Pinto and Perron are back, someone else on the team might get injured (knock on wood), then what? Will see how the next few games go I guess.

I completely agree with you but what I’m saying is I don’t expect moves to be made when the biggest additions we can make to the roster are back in the lineup likely tonight.

You are completely right that other players will undoubtedly get injured as we go.

The only way we will get an upgrade on D would be if we get lucky with a low-cost acquisition or waiver claim, like we did with Demelo as a throw in as part of the Karlsson return.

Look at what San Jose gave up for Liljegren. It's a sellers market right now. Nobody is available. We also have very little cap space.
I am looking at Nashville as a change-of-scenery opportunity for D & F.

Lots of affordable experience on that roster.

Sorry @Cosmix, I was speaking strictly within the context of dealing with the Preds, and they don't need picks.

As for the Sens dealing picks, I really hope Staios doesn't.
I don't like to deal picks because they represent our future team; however, I would deal picks if I could acquire something of equivalent value that would help the team perform better now.

There's no way he is worse than Hamonic. But I saw his contract, we can't take it unless we move out body(ies).
We don't have a lot of cap dollars left to spend, so there its a limit to the salary we can acquire unless the other team retains, which can be costly in other ways (e.g., draft picks).

Fabbro will not get claimed.

Maybe Nashville has a deal to trade him for another bad contract or with retention, and waiving him is a precursor to that.
Yes, and we have $390k of cap space. Also, Hamonic has a NMC so he’s not getting waived, demoted, traded or whatever unless he agrees to it.

Doesn’t seem likely that we are in market for any player unless we are moving a player off of our roster, so kind of odd to see the trade/waiver acquisition topic come up.

We could fit him in if they retain half and we go with a 22 player roster, or place someone on LTIR - but it doesn't make any sense.

We should go get nick robertson. He's having a shit year but he'll eventually turn it around. Let the leafa cut bait on him and we can swoop in right before he turns the corner.

I haven’t been following him, but he looked good in the last Leaf game I saw which was just in the last couple of days.

I feel like Karlsson's going to end up in Montreal. They have bad contracts to swap for him, and they stink so they need to do something to try and get going. Montreal is close to Ottawa. He could take a private jet and in in Ottawa quicker than it takes to get to Algonquin from Billings on the 88.

I could see something like Karlsson with retention for Anderson and picks/prospects.

Everybody except Crosby is apparently available.

And Karlsson is waiving his full NMC to end up on a bottom of the league rebuilding team in Mtl? Just to save a couple hours in flight time every now and then?
