My Sens fanfic is that they already know he wants out and this offseason was about trying to change his mind by retooling and proving that he doesn't have to move to a playoff team because we can be that playoff team. Kind of like when someones parents are going to kick them out so they take Police Foundations at Algonquin to show they can be a functioning adult.

If they are out of the playoffs they might as well move him at the deadline if someone meets the price. The problem with holding him into the summer is that they risk letting another team identify that they have to move him by July 1st before his NMC kicks in.

Every time I get a Ticketmaster notification that someone paid me $39 for my unused tickets I wish that there was a way to contact that person to ask them why they bought them.

I also think holding Brady until the summer increases his control in the play and might corner you into making a trade.

I don’t believe you get more because more teams are involved in the summer - didn’t happen with Spezza, trade him when so many teams are at their most motivated and irrational - play Boston, New Jersey, NYR, Tampa, Florida all off each other and you almost have the perfect storm, teams would pay through the nose to get Brady at the deadline and Brady would probably like to play for all those teams.

He’ll have a say. You aren’t trading him to Buffalo, he’s not going to Winnipeg. Let’s be realistic. Ottawa will have options, not 31 teams though

He won't have final say over where he goes, but no GM is giving up major assets if they think their situation is one that he wouldn't be happy with.

Columbus originally were interested in Chychrun but backed off because he didn't want to go there. He technically couldn't veto a trade, but that didn't matter.

Let's say San Jose gives Ottawa an amazing package for Tkachuk even know he clearly does not want to be in a rebuilding team. Then a year later he is unhappy and asks out. With his NMC, they aren't getting what they have up back..

Sure. Luke Hughes and mercer.
Mits actually scary two of the biggest contracts on the team cannot be moved for anything of value in chabot and Norris. They’re completely worthless on the market.

I think you can make legit hockey deals with Sanderson and tkatchuk. I think a hockey deal with tkatchuk can make us better because his value is likely astronomical.

I think the same about Greig.

Well NJ is close enough to New York and Philly too.

Regardless, it shouldn’t be up to him. We can’t let him use his NMC to pick his spot or else we’re f***ed.

I think something that will become a thing is how the Matthew completely changed the direction of Florida and made them Into a winner, not saying it’ll happen with Brady but if you’re a GM selling this trade to your owner you just tell them what Matthew did after his trade and the little brother is bigger, meaner, already an NHL Captain who smashes people, easy sell

He’ll have a full NTC on Jul 1 iirc - so NJD feels like a good bet. Likely for pennies on the dollar.
 
He will go to New York Rangers. New Jersey is like their Gatineau.

They clearly want to shake up their roster, and they have valuable pieces who could help Ottawa in a retool. The obvious one being Lafreniere, who people will groan at, but he would be tremendously marketable here with us trying to reach the fanbase across the bridge in Ottawa's New Jersey.

Philly is rebuilding and they need centres. I don’t think they’ll even try.

Rangers will probably attempt. I don’t think that team is winning with or without Brady though.

Don’t underestimate tkatchuk value. Tangibly we are trading a top line forward who scores at over ppg
Intangibles are perceived as off the chart. I don’t know the last time a player like this was ever traded

Which may be sign to keep him.

But I would do Hughes and mercer + something.

Lafraniere and Schneider as well

And like I mentioned a month ago move Greig for another young player

Nemec+Mercer+Draft Picks would probably be the package. They aren't moving Jack Hughes and by extension Luke, and then everybody else has NTCs or NMCs. That package wouldn't be compliant at the deadline unless someone gets hurt in New Jersey and they can pull the Vegas special with LTIR until the playoffs.

I still think the Rangers have a much better case to grab Brady. They have some legit prospects in Othman and Perrault. They are in a position where they welcome a re-tool and are willing to move everybody. They also have multiple key pieces in different positions on their roster who don't have trade protection or have limited trade protection.

We should and would keep him if it was our choice imo. I just don’t think he will want to stay.
