Joseph would fetch more than Kubalik. In Detroit's mind, he was a salary dump. Not sure if Dorion felt the same way, but he was absolutely a player that was not wanted by just about the entire league at his salary, and he didn't make much. Joseph is decent value, I would rather keep him
