When do the leafs have to make a decision on buying out Murray?

Looks like Samsonov's arbitration hearing is set for July 21st, which would mean that the Leafs' 48 hour window to buyout Murray would open on July 24th assuming that Samsonov makes it to his hearing. The latest that Leafs can make their decision would be July 26th, so we'll know for sure by then.

Of course, this all can occur earlier if the Leafs come to terms with Samsonov before arbitration. The important thing to note is that their 48 hour buyout window will open 3 days after Samsonov gets a new contract, whether the contract is awarded in arbitration or if they settle beforehand.

Or trade him for pennies at the dollar or let him walk just like Debrincat could have. Like are people serious here with Konecny? Sure he is a good player but what literally just happened with Debrincat.... Contract situation is identical. He is also small and gets hurt alot. Love the way he plays but his body is already beat up.

The sens should not be spending any more assets there are serviceable UFA's out there. They have 5 legit first line forwards and a terrific third line center who will be a top 6 forward too.
I'd add to that that we've got 5 guys that can play top 4

The core is set and locked in. Filler is what's needed. And you should be able to get filler for free.

Well Konecny grew up near London ont. not Detroit.
Hey ... Wait now, London is near Detroit not Ottawa

No way I'd be good with giving up assets for Konecny. He's going to be a Ufa in 2 years. Our window will be open then. He's the perfect kind of guy to target at that time. Take a lesser role with a lower AAV and hope to get a cup. That seems to be the winning formula these days. Having depth that can outplay the opponents depth.

He's also missed almost an entire season's worth of games over the past 4 seasons.

We already have a few injury prone guys on our team - giving up big assets for another one seems dicey.

I really like him and think he'd fit in well on what we are trying to build, but that's an awful lot of risk compounding on top of the likely high acquisition price.

The Flyers can afford to be patient and try to get maximum return for him because it's not as if they're going anywhere.

EDIT: Sorry, COVID seasons mess me up with GP. Not as many as I thought. Still think Flyers will turn the screws as he's probably their best remaining piece?

We need to solidify the bottom 6 - which is hugely important if there are injuries in the top 6.

Tatar sucks in the playoffs, but is quite good during the regular season- and we just need to make the post season.

We'll miss out on tarasenko, so hopefully a 1 year deal with tatar is in the cards

Gotta think we add one more notable top 9 forward.

We could very well see Pinto and Greig make huge jumps with one of them possibly breaking out, but with division getting stronger, and Norris having been gone for a while, gotta think we cannot risk another slow start and we will want to have insurance proactively rather than reactively.

Dorion's mentioned the trade market.

Garland/Laughton/Crouse(?) etc.

We likely will trade for equivalent of Sundqivst level impact bottom 6 forward. Don't know who that could be. Laughton would be the dream.

Greig-Pinto-Laughton hell of a line.

Still hoping Formenton gets just a suspension.

It's a small-ass sample size but Pinto and Joseph were dynamite together on the 3rd line to start the season before Norris went down. I guess I'm not too eager to move Joseph just yet.
There's really no point unless he's included in a trade. You have to replace him anyway, so why not keep him and see if he rebounds.

Laughton may make more sense if we make a trade.

It's funny, that affordable 2nd/3rd line tweener can be as hard to find as that middle pairing D-man on a good contract.

I guess there's no real reason for rebuilding teams to get rid of them either.

When the contract situation is identical its going to come up. If he had term already no problem go for it. But thats not the case, I also have concerns over his injury history.

I mean it's the same term but otherwise it's a little different. Konecny has ties to Ottawa and is Canadian.

He would be perfect for this team. The injuries are a product of how hard he plays. Gamer.

Philly will rightly expect a hefty package though. Similar to what we paid to get DBC.

Man those 4-5 games were amazing to watch.

We were rolling 4 lines and they would all have great O-zone possession and bring different elements. Would just tire the other teams out. Too bad it didn't last

Joseph's value has tanked to an all-time low.

The cost to replace him with an equivalent player isn't worth it IMO.

Could bury him and gain 1m Cap Space. I don't think the goal is to get an equivalent player. Go for better player.

We can forget about the first few names on the list.

Snag one of these UFAs.. for a cheap 1 year. (exclude Brass although he outplayed Joseph by a good margin)
9. E Staal 10. Sundqvist 11. Ritchie 12. Bailey 13. P Suter 14. Brassard 15. Stastny 16. Heinen
