A few names mentioned with nothing like a report... just possible targets.
Konecny Laughton Tarasenko .. all just mentioned.
Laughton is my target. I think he'd be an outstanding fit as a middle sixer.

I like Sundqvist alot because he can play center too, very useful player. Plays in all situations, dont think you want him in the top 6 though. If someone goes down Grieg, Pinto would be better to move up.
The only thing about Sunqvist that concerns me is that he isn't much of a line driver & a line of Kubalik - Pinto - Sunqvist might not be able to handle or distirbute the puck very well. Putting him on the top line with Stutzle who drives the line leaves Giroux to drive line 2 & pushes Batherson to drive line 3.

IMO it distributes the playmakers among all three lines & also gives each line some size, grit & scoring, I also assume that with Tkachuk & Stutzle he might increase his point production. Laughton with Giroux & Norris might increase his offensive production & Batherson would certainly increase Kubalik's production, three decent lines. Does that make sense?

Kubalik can move up easier than Sundqvist

I have a weird feeling we see another big move Dorion special this summer.

Everyone is assuming he'll just use the space left to fill the hole, and maybe they're right, but I won't be at all surprised if there's a big move left for Dorion. Maybe his last one.

Also, not sure why so many people are keen on trading Brannstrom with Chabot and Chychrun’s inability to stay healthy.

There’s a decent chance neither one of them plays 65 games next year. Our lack of depth killed us last year when our top guys got injured.
Agreed, need to keep him for injury insurance. He's jumped in as a top 4 filler plenty of times in the past and played even better than on a bottom pair role, we can't afford to lose that insurance policy with Chychrun's injury history. Our defensive depth has been trash far too long until now.

He can't be done. He needs to add that 6/7/8 piece lol

Definitely JBD is not going on waivers. He's young, improving and just signed a 2 year cheap deal.
If he goes on waiver, we probably lose him. Not worth the risk, can still round out as a top 4 dman in a couple years.

If we needed room I think was the thing.

But he's a left shot, can he play RW?
Yes hes a LW/RW either one.

If PD signs Terasenko, I hope the contract is for his value today and not when he was peaking. JMO, PD has a habit of being too optimistic when acquiring vets.

Maybe some doomer speak, but I hope that top-six winger Dorion is targeting isn’t a possible replacement for Batherson if Dorion knows something we don’t.

We have five left shot D in Chabot, Sanderson, Chychrun, Brannstrom & Kleven it's most likely Chychrun plays the right side to start the yr. Should a left shot D get hurt they would just move Chychrun over to the left side or bring up Kleven, they don't need Brannstrom, but they do need that salary to improve the bottom six.

They have four right shot D in Zub, Hamonic, JBD & Thomson & Guennette in Belleville. If a right shot D gets hurt they would just move JBD into a RD spot & call up Thomson for insurance.

Of course. I didn't say that silly.

I was saying that while consensus is that they'll just use the remaining cap to sign a 3rd line player, I have a suspicion he's got an even bigger trade up his sleeve with this likely to be his last opportunity.
Ok my bad.. I am just hoping for a good middle sixer. Anything more than that is a bonus unless it puts us back in cap trouble

Crouse would be great or maybe Laughton as a consolation prize.

Konecny, Laughton and Crouse are all great fits but the sens should be priced out given acquisition cost and salaries (unless they can include Joseph but that would likely further increase acquisition cost).

The sens need to restock the cupboard as they keep building. Unfortunately I think they’ll need to hope for a late career progression season from Joseph.

I’m not sure how much to spend really, unless 1 year deal, as depends on what’s allocated for Sanderson.

Maximum cap can increase is 5% a year in the new MOU. So next year assuming escrow debt paid off, 4.2 million increase is the maximum cap can go up. Sandy basically takes all of it,

I think I do too, unless he can pull off a good one.

Crouse would be awesome. A little concerned about the price to acquire there, but certainly a good target.

Ya I was thinking dollars heading out the door too, but something substantial beyond just adding a guy for what's left under the cap. Just a hunch and probably wrong.

If anyone in the top 4 gets injured, the most likely candidate is Chychrun. Brannstrom has experience playing the offside and has shown he can fill in a top 4 role and perform amicably. Neither JBD or Kleven have proven that yet, and I personally believe that Kleven should get a year of AHL experience first for more seasoning before he makes the jump, better for him and us long term imo. Keep Brannstrom.

2nd LW will be Kubalic, 3rd LW should be Soko or Smejkal. I'd rather run with that lineup and see how they perform first. Reevaluate things by tdl and make any needed adjustments then if necessary.

Send Joseph & Brannstrom & free up about $5 mil in any package for those guys, we don't need either & have plenty of depth on both sides on D, we won't miss Brannstrom. Laughton is the cheapest & probably the easiest salary to fit our salary structure.

Tkachuk - Stutzle - Kubalik
Laughton - Norris - Giroux
Smejkal - Pinto - Batherson
Kelly - Kastelic - MacEwen/Sokolov = $48 mil approx.

Chabot - Zub
Sanderson - Chychrun
Kleven - Hamonic/JBD = $21 mil

Korpisalo - Forsberg = $7 mil plus Dead Cao $5 mil = $12 mil

Forwards $48 mil + Defence $21 mil + Goalies/Dead Cap $12 mil = $81 mil

I see Sundqvist as a much improved version of Gambrell. Same type of role.
