Nobody is taking Joseph bc we added a 2nd. He’s gonna be a dump. Which is a testament to Joseph’s commitment to not be worth 2.9. Literally filled with talent. But refuses to play a north-south tenacious game. Not my clown or my circus if he wishes to waste his talent. But still, if we sign a UFA winger and move Branny for salary he could be a solid third line winger with Joseph and Kubalik and get some good looks. Again, I’m just so disappointed in his refusal to take his career seriously and play better and to his strengths.
I think he got wrapped up in playing in the top 6. Life is good up there. Being relied on as an important 3rd line checker ... well not so great ..

Because that's what the team may want, and would put more guaranteed cash in his pocket. Why did JBD take 2 years?

He'll get less on a 1 year deal, so he'd have to weigh that decision. For example, 1-year at 1.2M or 2 years at 1.5M per.
Team took him to arbitration, he'll decide the term, unless you expect them to settle in advance

JBD wanted his NHL one way .. he's still got a lot to prove

Pinto is in a 10.2c this year only. IF its anything less than 2m .. I would advise him 1 year and he should get it

Might be better to go with pairs, and put a third guy on each pair from the third line, to get 3 lines.

So does Pinto. Like I said, there are pros and cons of both. If you look back at 10.2(c) signing over the past few years, 2 years is more common than 1.

Perhaps. I can’t say I have any insider info but that’s a real possibility.

but then he should have just been smart enough to know his role and play to his strengths. At 2.9 he’s being paid on potential. He is healthy scratched because of something we never found out about. Formenton is gone. It’s his moment and it’s right there. Chabby has his back and is a leader. Just play north south and hit everything. Just smash into anything when you’re out there and get back on D before your man. That’s your game.

And it’s just unbelievable to me that he is a sitting in a city that would make him a hero if he did. Francophone fans in ottawa and Gatineau would love this man if he just played a hard nosed style. It’s Canada. Yet he just wants to what? Lazily do what? Unreal to me that he can be sitting at home looking at his name being tossed around as a salary dump and not have any f***ing pride in himself to play better.

Its like that Crusher to Rusher to Usher syndrome... not that he's a Crusher but it still fits.
He could have an important role .. he has to embrace it.
People forgive some lack of production when you are tenacious , win battles, are first on the puck , play hard 2 ways and hit... and show a modicum of IQ

Formenton will probably be let go or maybe get us a late pick or depth prospect.

Don't think any Canadian team will sign him. Hockey Canada scandal was big news here, much less so in the U.S.

Some team down south will sign him for a steal and get a good young 3rd liner for nothing.

I could see Joseph being the Barbashev type 3rd line guy who plays really well as the forechecker for 2 higher skilled teammates. He showed he could do that for that stint where we got him. Fell apart last year but hoping he can get back to that.

Agreed.

So much wasted talent. He should be first man in on those forechecks.

That’s why I really hope we get back formenton and move on from this waste of space. Formenton grabs two guys in a scuffle and would fight both. He also is first man in and is a mother f***er to deal with. He’s so underrated. Valuable piece.

And Joseph sees that. Sees we need it. And then just cruises outside. Thinking he’s Ovie or something.

Frustrating. Just bring back formenton and send this guy to Arizona or Chicago. Let him just relax on a rebuilding team. Maybe Montreal wants him. I don’t know. He doesn’t want it here.

We'll see. It all hinges on the LPD investigation. If they don't file charges, I think the pendulum will swing back to "the social media mob wanted to ruin these guys for no reason" pretty quickly and aggressively. Is that right? That's a whole other debate.

The team Andlauer previously owned played the same waiting game. 18 months ago, all anyone talked about was how they should immediately cut ties with Logan Mailloux. Today? The fans and press are raving about what a big piece of the future core he'll be...
I hope you’re right. 18 goals he scored. The guy is ready to play well. If it doesn’t work just move him at the deadline with increased value.

In general ottawa does a poor job of recouping value on failed assets. We are about to see it with Lassi and Joseph and Branny.

Say what you will about BMurray, I loved him, but when he saw a guy was done he was gone. Sometimes late. Sometimes early. But he didn’t keep them around that long. Rundblad was traded. Puempel gone. Prince gone. I don’t care if it’s a late pick. Just get his ass out of here if he isn’t gonna do it. Pierre needs to make some moves to recoup something.

Should be trying to get him or Laughton. Laughton would be less expensive

Given the price I'd prefer Laughton as well. I'm not sold Carouse just yet. His only good offensive years have been in tank years. On bad teams. Could be a guy just getting opportunity on a bad team. He's certainly improved and a good player but...

... I'm not convinced he'd earn top 6 ice time on our team. In which case he'd be overpriced.

I hope you're right, I just don't have faith in a brand new ownership group deciding to face the inevitable ****storm from smear merchants in the media who don't give a crap about due process and judged Formenton as guilty from the moment the story came out.

And frankly I don't know whether the LPD investigation will ever come to a close anytime soon. Seems like they just want to drag this out as long as possible, probably because they know Formenton acted like a scumbag but they aren't able to bring legal consequences because the victim won't give them what they want. I don't think they want to face the political backlash that would result from them clearing Formenton of wrongdoing.

This is important and very true. Sometimes, it seems like PD tries too hard to get an asset in return that looks good on paper without considering the benefit of 'addition by subtraction'. I honestly feel that as soon as it becomes clear that a player isn't in the future plans, move him. Move him right away.
