The cardinal point calculator gives a much different figure for taxes in Ottawa. Nearly 8M vs. 6.8M in that one.

Not that it makes any real difference. There's no way the Senators would go to 16M on a player.

There are just so few RDs available. I don’t believe they want Risto that badly with his injuries and needing a new contract. Whitecloud would make a ton of sense but if not him they might not have a choice.

$5.5 million for 4-5 years is a fair deal for Spence. It's not like he's asking for $6.5-7 million aav for 7-8 years smh.

Maybe. It could also be the contract offer he got was say $14M and he's thinking why am I not getting $17M like Kaprisov?

But if that's the ask and you're the Ottawa Senators.... even if he was willing to come here at $17M or $18M you just don't. That's nuts. I like him alot but this isn't Auston Matthews where you think a change of environment gets him back to 60 goals or Connor McDavid or an offer sheet on Celebrini.
